For Against Abstained Linda Olson x Othoniel Sierra (Moved By) x Joe Anderson (Seconded By) x Dave Cuesta x Rita Russell x Steven Ward x Cheryl Wink x 7 0 0 Motion CARRIED. 5 Appointments, Communications, Proclamations, and Recognition a) City Attorney Tamara Niles introduced the new Assistant City Attorney Victoria McDermott. b) City Council Recognition and Swearing-In. The Mayor asked the City Clerk to announce the status of the election. City Clerk Carlile announced the unofficial election results provided by Arapahoe County, the newly elected Council Members are: Council Member District 2 Chelsea Nunnenkamp, Council Member District 4 Steve Ward, Council Member At Large Cheryl Wink, and Council Member At Large Jim Woodward. There were comments and recognition of families and guests by the departing members of City Council. Council recessed at 7:28 p.m. for a brief reception The meeting reconvened at 8:03 p.m. The re-elected Municipal Judge Joe Jefferson was sworn in by Associate Judge Jonathan Lucero. The newly-elected Council Member District 2 Chelsea Nunnenkamp, Council Member District 4 Steve Ward, Council Member at Large Cheryl Wink, and Council Member at Large Jim Woodward were sworn in by the Honorable Judge Joe Jefferson. Members of City Council were seated (in temporary spaces) and Mayor Pro Tem Sierra asked the City Clerk to call the roll of City Council Members. Roll Call Council Present: Mayor Pro Tem Othoniel Sierra Council Member Chelsea Nunnenkamp Council Member Joe Anderson Council Member Steve Ward Council Member Rita Russell Council Member Cheryl Wink Council Member Jim Woodward Mayor Pro Tem Sierra declared a quorum was present. Mayor Pro Tem Sierra called for nominations for Mayor. Moved by Council Member Steven Ward Seconded by Council Member Joe Anderson MOTION TO NOMINATE MAYOR PRO TEM SIERRA FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD. The new Mayor assumed the Chair and called for nominations for Mayor Pro Tem. Moved by Council Member Joe Anderson Seconded by Council Member Chelsea Nunnenkamp MOTION TO NOMINATE COUNCIL MEMBER WARD FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR PRO TEM OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD. Member Russell requested statements from the nominated Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem and discussion ensued. Member Russell requested to reconsider the vote nominating Council Member Sierra as Mayor. Moved by Council Member Steven Ward Seconded by Council Member Joe Anderson MOTION TO RECONSIDER VOTE TO NOMINATE COUNCIL MEMBER SIERRA FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD. Permanent seating assignments were selected by seniority. The newly-elected/re-elected Members of City Council recognized their families and guest present. The meeting recessed at 8:30 p.m. to relocate to the Community Room to finish the agenda. Mayor Sierra Responded to Public Comment. 8 Consent Agenda Items a) Approval of Ordinances on First Reading There were no additional Ordinances on First Reading [See Agenda Items 11(a)(i-ii)] b) Approval of Ordinances on Second Reading. There were no Ordinances on Second Reading c) Resolutions and Motions There were no additional Resolutions or Motions. [See Agenda Items 11(c)(i)] 9 Public Hearing Items No public hearing was scheduled before Council. 10 Ordinances, Resolutions and Motions a) Approval of Ordinances on First Reading i) CB 53 - Amending Municipal Code to permanently provide for authorized public areas for public consumption of alcohol Moved by Council Member Joe Anderson Seconded by Council Member Othoniel Sierra Motion to amend Council Bill No. 53 to only include the paseos for open consumption.
