AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A FARM LEASE AGREEMENT FOR
471 ACRES BETWEEN THE SOUTH PLATTE WATER RENEWAL
PARTNERS BIOSOLIDS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AND KENT
BEICHLE PLANT
WHEREAS, the Cities of Littleton and Englewood jointly own properties near Byers, Colorado
and Bennett, Colorado which are used for the South Platte Water Renewal Partner (SPWRP)
Biosolids Management Program;
WHEREAS, this Program uses dryland farm property for long-term applications of domestic
wastewater biosolids generated by the SPWRP;
WHEREAS, the Bennett property is not currently being used for biosolids application,
however, farming operations continue to keep the property productive;
WHEREAS, the Englewood City Council authorized five Farm Lease Agreements for a term of
one year, renewable for five years for the Farms in the SPWRP Biosolids Management Program by
the passage of Ordinance No. 28, Series of2016; and
WHEREAS, the passage of this proposed Ordinance authorizes a one year Farm Lease
Agreement commencing on January 1, 2019 for a term of one (1) year, renewable for one additional
year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Englewood hereby authorizes a "Farm Lease"
between Kent Beichle and the cities of Littleton and Englewood commencing on January 1,
2019, for a term of one (1) year, renewable for an additional one year, ending on December 31,
2020; attached hereto as Exhibit A.
Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the Farm Lease Agreement for and on
behalf of the City of Englewood.
