HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018 Resolution No. 013RESOLUTION NO. 13 SERIES OF 2018 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD'S POLICE DEPARTMENT GRANT APPLICATION FOR CRIME VICTIM SERVICES (CVS) GRANT FUNDS FOR A PART TIME VICTIM ADVOCATE WHEREAS, the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice Office of Victims Programs provides grant program funds for projects that provide crime victim services; WHEREAS, the grant funds assist local law enforcement agencies to provide grant funded victim advocate personnel; WHEREAS, over the last several years the Englewood Police Department has seen an increase in the call for service have increased which translates to an increase need for services to victims of crime; WHEREAS, with the increase in crime victim services, the Englewood Police Department has experienced a decrease in the number of volunteer crime victim advocates; WHEREAS, the grant funds will assist the Englewood Police Department in hiring a part- time victim advocate, for the next two years; WHEREAS, there are no federal funds being used for the funding the position of a part-time victim advocate, and; WHEREAS, the Englewood Police Department grant application will request $50,850 in grant funds with a required In-Kind City match of$15,950 for the two year period. The In Kind Match will come from on-call volunteer hours valued at a rate of $10.00 per hour. Englewood's share has been budgeted under the volunteer pay hours. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT: Section 1. The City Council for the City of Englewood, Colorado, hereby authorizes the application for a Crime Victim Services Grant to hire a part-time victim advocate for the next two years, attached hereto as Exhibit A.
