WIIEREAS, the Lnglcwood Urulicd Development Code (lfDC) was adop te d in 2004, as the
first com pr eh en sive zoning code upjate since 19 85; and
WHEREAS, the Engl ewood City C'o 11ncil macle eco nom ic d, velopment n to p Co unci l go al : and
WHEREAS, the Med ical Zo ne an d Ov erlay Di strict Amendments to the U:iifieu Development
Code (UDC) rewncs pro perty to es tablish more develo pmcnt-frien cll y regula tions in the
immediate vicinity of Swe di sh Medical Center and Cra ig Hosp ital to take advantage of
development interest in the area; and
WHEREAS, .i.cre are certain areas near th e Medical Centers which wish to be excluded from
conside:ation for rezoni ng as medical relat ed zone-s to pres erve the current zoning of the
neigh borhood and enh ance that preservation with an ove rla y district ; and
WHEREAS , after numerous neighborh ood meettr.~s. and meetin~s wi th Ciry Co un ci l the
Co mmunity Development Departme111 recomme nded the es tabli shmen t 01 a Neighbo rh ood
Prese rvation Ove rl ay Zo ne an d the appli cation of that zo ne m the 3200 blo ck o f South Shenna.:,
Street and the 3200 , 3300 and portion s of the 3400 block s o f Soutli Grant Street in the City of
Englewood; and
WHEREAS , the Euglew ood P'anrun g and Zoning Commission condu cted a Public Hearui g
and recomn:endcd tha t tlu s Overlay Zone should not be established at thi s time .
