WHEREAS, the City of Englewood has used the Unifonn Building Code as a model
conslru1;Liun cudc.: since 1971 , and
WHEREAS , Utis Code is updated perioriically to keep pac e with changing construction
lechnology; and
WHEREAS , U1c City of Englewood Division of Building and Safety staff hos thoroughly
reviewed the !nlemational Building Code 2012 and •ecommends adop!ion thereof subject to certain
exceptions , modifications and amendment ;
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS ;
Section 1. 11,e City Council of the City of Englewood , Colorado hereby authorizes the repeal
ofTitle 8, Chapter 2, Article A, of the Englewood Municipal Code 2000 , in its enti rety.

The adoption of the International Building Code 2012 was reviewed by City Council at the May 7,
2012 stcidy session .
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staif requests City Council approve an ordinance adopting the International Bu ilding Code 2012 :o
establish minimum requirement> tu safc,gua rd the public health . safety and general welfare.
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED
The City of Englewood has used the Building Code and Internati onal Codes as model construction
codes since 197 t and updates this code periodicall1• to keep : ,ace with changing construction
technology.
The Bunding and Safety staff has revi ewed 1' 'nternational Building Code 20 12 and recommends
adoption subject to certain exceptions, modifications and am endm ents .
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The onl)' costs associated with the o rdinance would be for the purchase of code books. The
es timated amount is approximately S40 0 .0 0 aid has b een budgeted for rn the 2012 Budget.
