WHEREAS, 1hc City of Englewood Division of Building and Safely staff has thoroughly
reviewed the In ternational Plumbing Code 2012 and recommends adoption thereof subject to
certain cxcepticns , modifications and amendment;
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS :
Section I . ·11,e City Council of the City of Englewood , Colorodo hereby authorizes the repeal
of Title 8, Cbaplcr 2, Article C, of the Englewood Municipal Code 2000 , in its entirety.
Section 2. The Ci1y Council of th e Cily of Englewoo d, Co \orndo berehy adopts the
lntemoti onal Plumbmg Code 2012 as Title 8, Chapter 2, AnicleC, of the Englewood Mu:licipal

Ordinance is promulgated under the general police power of the City of Enf:lcwood , that it is
promulgated for the health, safety, and welfare of the public, ®d that tbi, Ordinauoe is necessary
for the preservation of health and safety and for the protection of public con venien ce and
welfare . The City Council further detemiines tltat the Ordinance bears a rat ional relation to the
proper legislative object sought to he ohtainerl .
Section 4. Severahili;y. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, or part of this Or<linance or the
application thereof to any person or circwnstances shall for any reason be adjudged by a court of
competent jurisdiction invalid, such judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the rerr,ainder
of this Ordinance or it applico.tior. to other persons or c.ircums tnncc$.
Section 5. Inconsistent Ordinances . All other Ordinances or ponions thereof inconsistent or
conOictinr ·ith this Ordinance or any portion hereof are herehy repealed tn the extent of such
inconsistency or conflict.

proceecings, and prosecutions for the enforcement of the penalty, forfeiture , or liability , as well

entered , or made in such acti ons , smt s, proceedings, or pro5ecutions .

COUNCIL GOAL AND PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
The adoption of the lntematicnal Plumbing Code 201 2 was reviewed by City Council at the May 7
2012 study session .
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff req uests City Council approve an ordinance adopting th e International Plumbing C ode 2012
to establish minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safet y and s~neral welfare.
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDEI\TIFIED
The City of Englewood has used the Plur1bing Code and International Codes as model construction
codes since 1 Y 72 and updates this code periodically to keep ~ace with changing construction
technology.
The Building and Safety staff has th o ro ughly re\'iewed the International Plumbing C ode 201 2 and
recommends adoption subject to certain exccpt:ons, modifications and amo?ndments .
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The only costs associated with the o;dinance w ould be for the purchase of code books. The
estimated amount is approximately $300.00 and has been budgeted for in the 2012 Budget.
