AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 2, ARTICLED, OF THE ENGLEWOOD
MUNJCIP AL CODE 2000, PERT AINL"lG TO THE ELECTIUCAL CODE OF THE CITY UF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO.
WHEREAS , the City of Englewood has used the National Electrical Codes as model
conslrucl1u11 i;odcs since 1975 ; and
WHEREAS , thi s Code is upda :d periodically to keep pa.:e with changing construction
technology; and
WHEREAS, the City of Englewood Division of Building and Safety staff has thoroughly
reviewed the National Electrical Code 2011 and recommends adoption thereof subject to certain
cxceptior:s, modifications and amendment;
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY 11iE CITY CO UNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS :
Section l -The Cit y Council of the City of Englewood, Co ;orado hereby authorizes the repeal
of Title 8, Chapter 2, Miele D, of the Englewood Muuicipal Code 2000 , iu its c1Jtifcty.
Section 2. The Ci·.y Counc'I oftbc City of Englewood, Colorado hereby adopto the National
Electrical Code 2011 as Title 8, Chapter 2, Article D, of the Englewood Municipal Code 2000, to
read a~ follows ·

RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff requests City Council approve an ordinance adopting the Na •.ional Electrical Code 2011 10
establish m,nimum requirements lo safegu ard the public health, safety and general welfare.
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED
The City of Eng ewood has used the National Electrical Code as a model construction code since
197 1 and updates this code periodically to keep pace with changing construction technology.
Th e Building and Safety staff has reviewed the National Electrical Code 2Q11 and rec ommends
adoption.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Th e onl)' <:0sts associated with t he ordinance would be for the purchase of code books . The
estimated am o unt is approximately $400.00 and has been budgeted (or in the 2012 Budge t
