WHEREAS, it is the duly of the City Council of 1he City of E~glewooJ, Colorado, under 1he Englewood Horne Rule Charter and Colorado Revised S1atu1es, 10 mak,· the annual property levy for Cily purposes; and WHEREAS , tl,c City Council hns duly considered the estimn1cd valun1ion of nil the taxable property within the City and the needs of '.he City and of each of said levies and has detennined that the levies as hereinafter set forth, are proper and wise ; and WHEREAS , the following levies are pertnitted under Article X, Section 20 of the Colorado Constitution without .i vote by the ci1izens ~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD. COLORADO , AS FOLLOWS: Section I. That there be nnd hereby is levied for the year of 2012, ~ue and payable as requ ired by s:atute in the year 2013 , a tax of 5.880 mills on the dollar for the G :neral Fund of the City of Eng lewoud, Coloiado, ··nd 1.914 mills on the dollar for lhe Genera l Obli¥alion Bund Debt Service , Fund of the City of Engle,•,,,od, Colorado. Citv Council provided feedback and requested stafi prepare th e Proposed 2013 Budget for publication. The 2013 Proposed Judge! was printed and distribu1cd on Scplember 4, 2012 and was mode available online. A public hearing regarding th e proposed budget was held September 17 , 2012 and a iollow-up Budget Workshop was held at the Study Session on September 24, 2012. RECOMMENDED ACTION Staff recommends Council approve this bill for an ordinance establishing the 2012 mill levy t o be collected i, 20D . BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED T~e City of Englewood assesses property tax for the general operations of 1he government and for the General Obligation Bonds Debt Service Fun~. TABOR restricls the City from raising the mill levy wi1hou1 a vote of the cit1zens. The City's r,ill levy has bee n unchanged since 1992 . This year's General Furrd mill levy remains unchanged al 5.880 mills . The 2012 levy is cert'fied 10 Arapah oe County by December 15 , 2012 for collection in 201 3. The General Obliga1ion Bond debt sen,ice mill levy is 1.914 mills for 2012 for colleclion in 2013.
