All l'.itnesses were duly sworn .
Commande, Eng lert presented the history of the six proposed Council Bills as to what is allowed and what is not
allowed . There appeared to be confusion among citizens , as well as Code EnforcemP.nt officers , as lo what the
Code was directing Council asked that the Code Enforcement Advisory Commillee provioe recommendations
to alleviate this confusion . As Tille 16 was involved, the Planning and Zoning Comm iss io n as well as the Board
of AdIustment and Appeals were also Involved in providing recommendations.
Ed eurch , an Englewood resident. spoke regard ing the oath of office when accepting the City Council position
which should have included a statement that said 'to respect the rights of the c itizens of Englewood' and he
wondered what has happened to that?
Don Bennen, an Englewood resident, discussed the crushed hard rock driveway and his RV . He acknowledged
the hard work involved , but believes there is a discrepancy with the weigtil limits being stated and the lengths .
He would like Counci l to consider the length of longtime residents and have a grandfather clause in place for
th em
Wall Pe rry , an Englewo od resident , sa id W'!. went through this RV weight limits several years ago. much to his
own personal cost. He wondered if City Council is tryin9 to run people out of Englewood .
Glorie Simons , an Englewood resident, said there are a lot of th in gs that have been passed that we don 't know .
She quesl ioned the weight and length being allowed for motorhomes
Adrian Pyle , an Englewood resident, read the proposed changes and 11 appears to him that this is ju st fo r

Herman Ray Barlow, an Englewood residenl, sa io had 11 not been for the molorhome. they wouldn't need a
onveway, I hey are llmlleo In yardage. Tl1e1e is a drainage ditch that runs under the backyard so they can 't do
anyth ing there . The p~ople In Englewood should be allowed lo use their property as they see flt ; if it isn't an
eyesore , doesn't hurt the neighbors or is not unreasonable . People in Englewood live here or moved here
because of the relaxed atmosphere. We don't wanl the cookie-cutter houses like Highlands Ranch or Cherri
Creek . It would pose a hardship if they couldn 't have their RVs on their own property and had lo pay for
storage as well as the inconvenience. We have enough regulations. We haven't had any complaints. His
molorhome si is back in between some trees and is somewhat hidden .
Laurert Barre ntine , on Englcwo,d resident , said she didn 't appreciate the □ranl1slanding at the beginning or
crarnm 1n g six publi c hearings together. She read the Littleton ord inance. She talked to Littleton Mayor Doug
Clark and he said the Council who passed this are no longer on that Council You don't have the right to lake
my personal right away from the first ten feet on my property. She thanked Council Member Glll1I for pointing
out the grandstanding. She showed the petition signatures and stated that they had sufficient signatures for the
ballot initiative . She sa id they had 1000 signatures .
Mike Cravens, an Englewood re sider!, moved to Englewood because of his RV and it is parked in the front of
his house . He can put in a pad in lhe back He is concerned that the rules "'lighl change again and that if he
docs that, would he not be in compliance? Most people are on fixed income . He doesn 't see where this 1s
going or why. He questioned if the ordinances are going to keep chang ing . He thinks there should be a
grandfather clause for existing citizers.
Doug Cohn , an Englewood re s1den1 , sa id three things : gra~dfalhenng is in there un less you put in a garage,
bu ild a fence, or add an add ition to your hocse . The initiative in lhe fall is one paragraph. The question is lhal
are we citizens responsible enough lo take care of our own stuff or do we need Council lo give us rules? Third
point, C;ounci l Member Mccaslin used a cuss word and a derogatory word to me the last time we spoke about
this and he shou ld apolog ize .
Jack Ridley , an Englewood res1denl , said inslead of passing more laws, 110w about enforc,ng the laws we
already have? He Is concerned about the changing laws . He d id a survey in his neighborhood and there is no
way , with lhe re comme nded setback, that RV owners could be 1n compliance . He does not want a covenanl
CJrnmunily like Highlands Ranch . These appear lo be more covenant rulings instead of zoning rulings.
Grandfather clauses are good for the people now . bul not tor future homeowners . As neig hbu1s we can pol.ce
ourselves . Eyesores can be taken care of by neighbors handling ii themselves .
Bryan Oliver , an Eng lewood residcnl, said he does nol own any recreal ion al vehicle. He has a problem, as a
pr operty owner, wilh private property/covenanl iss ues oeing aired ae1 sh oved down th~11 th roats . He lh1nks
Counci l should wail until after lhe clcc•.ion to see what lhe people want. He is private property owner and
wonders what gives lhe Cou n ci l l he nghl to tell him whal lo do wilh ii ? He ,s appalled w1lh the Mayor telling him
row he inlends to vote .
Ma tt hew Crabtree , an Englewood re s1den l, sa id lhis is not l~e fir st lime this has been brought before C1ly
Counc1L I he in1tiat1ve re -enforces and protec1s our properly rig his as they are right now or as they are not ocin ~
enforced . II is possible th a l lhe City of E nglewood 1s installing covenant sight triang les and vehicle weight
restrict ions ; more so than Hig hlands Ram;h. Safety iss ues in the safety clause arc just on excuse . Four Council
members have spoken ag ainsl the aesth~lics of parking RVs and using the safety issues as the reason . No
one has been hurt because a n RV was pa1ked 111 their driveway or up to th e curb
