3. P.eport your enforcement plans and activity to the COOT website before the specified deadlines;
4. Contact CDOrs Public Re lations Office prior to Issuing a local press release to coordinate :nedla efforts;
i. Submit claims on COOT.forms with backup documentation within 45 days after the end of each enio;cement
period. (Memorial Day cl alms must"be recolved by OTS no later than June· 27th);
6. Submit a final report on agen;:y ·letterhead summarizing activity, arrests and crashes compared to last year, overall
results of the enforcement, and any significant ever.ts that occurred, with each claim .

The Colorado Department of Transportation Traffi c Ec uc:aliu11 and Enforc:emen l Grant program was
ci,cussed at th~ City Council Study Session on April 11 , 201 1.
RECOMMENIJEI) ACTION
The Police Department is recommending that Ci ty Council adopt a bill for an ordinance authorizing
the Englewood Police r 1epartment lo accept funding from the Colorado Departmen: oi
Transportation (CDOT! in o ,der to pursue projects related 10 traffi c education and enforcement.
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERI\ATIVES IDENTIFIED
The Colorad o Department of Tra as portation has soliciterl pnlirP. rlP.partmPnt~ throughout th e Sta te
of Colorado, including the Englewood Police Department. 10 participate in programs throughout
2011 that encourage traffic education and enforcement. COOT will reimburse th ese agencies for
overtime hours spent on these projects . These projects are:
1. 201 1 High Visibility Impaire d Driving Enforcement Campaign: Funding is S4 ,400 .
2. Motorcycle Awaren ess Training : h;nding is $747.19.
3 . Click it or Ticket: funding is $3,000.

these programs relates to the Click it or Ticket campaign that is held on an annual

There is one p:ogram in March which we conducted but I h~ve Instructed those
involved not to accept any funding until appro'led by Council. The Programs are:
