A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ENGLEWOOD PUBLI C LIBRARY TO
[MPLEMENT TI-IE "SUMMER FOOD FOR FINES" PROGRAM FROM MONDAY,
MAY 23,. THROUGH SUNDAY, JUNE 5°, 201 !.
WHEREAS , the Englewood Pub lic Lib rary ha s sponsored a "Food for Fines" program since
1990; and
WHEREAS , the "Food for Fines " program allows patrons with overdue fines on the ir overdue
library materi:ds to "pay" them off through the donation c fnon•pcrishlblc fo oci items; and
WHEREAS , the food items arc then forwarded to the Inter-Faith Commu nn y Services for
th c:r '1food b.1nk " distriburi on to finan ci.ill y disadvnn:ngcd fam ilies in th e Engl ewo od area ; and
\VHEREAS , the program is a benefit to the com1mu1:ty in that the di sadva111agctl arc .1.>s 1stctl ;
the air cleared with re spect to fine.,;; the Cit )' receive s its library materials back and the prob'fam
pre sent s a posi ti ve image of the Li bra,y and the Ci ty.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY T HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT :
Section I . The Englewood City Cow1c il :,ereby authorizes the Englewood Public Library',
implementatio n of the "Summer Food for Fine s" program fr o:n Monday, May 23'', through

max imu:n fin e accrual is S5 .00 per item, and th e Library requ ires a dona tion of two non-pe rishabl e

program. This program has b ee n warmly recei v ed and 5:rpporied by the pub li c since its inceplion,
