Mr G1lh d I '~.oug ht we were going to talk to tn em, bu t I Mr Jefferson satd I thm k we Jus t sent them
someth ... u, ,,g hey we are going to enact th is moratori um but you know we still haven 't made the rules
for mura ls and so 1t may have to come down the letter that was sent to them or th e contact with them , was
something along th ose Im es
Council Member G1ll1t said I know we sent the letter , but I JUSl wondered 1f we have heard anything back from
them Mayor Woodward said well, yes Alan Is here and he can respond I think II v.ias pan of their Council
Requests where CommJn1ty Development went over there they did come back and pull a permit There wa s
measuremem of that so maybe Alan has that response
Director White saI0 w e did con ta ct ttlern via lett er anu t11eI~ Wd~ d follow-up phone call \'.hen the,-" gut the

and after a review of the effect of the moratonum relating to wall murals on the community, the recommendat1 on
mav be to keep the Code as II currently exists , so any person who purchases erects or maintains a wall mura l
dunng the moratonum penod , m contravent1on of the ex1st1ng Sign Code will do so at their own nsk of e1ny
subject to anforcement at the term1nat1on of the six month moratonum So , m o ther words , 1f they a re 10 do ;i
mu ral and 11 doesn't flt into the Sign Code they have to remove tha! mural at their expense JU SI so people are
aware of that
Mayor Woodward said are there any other commenls ?
Council Me mber Jeffe rson said I will iu st comment that from a po licy perspective I do thmk we need to get
some rules ou t there m place You know I 1h 1nk that people see the ir neigh bors do 11 and th ey go it's
ok ay an d then so, I thin k we will stan to see some of thes e spring off Bro ad way now So, I guess my
comme nt would Iust be th at, I think we need to set th e policy and make i: relativel y clear In l he near future ,
because wII h the Hea ded West si tuati on and now this I think that we have 901 to convey tho se, those
standards to the business comrnun11 y o therwise 1t 1s going to ex pand
Council Members Penn and WIison said 1 agree
Mayor Woodward said maybe 1f we could mo.l(e up a maybe Jus t a short letter o r wha tever, so people 1f 11
does happen, people could be handed that by Sode or whatever so they are aware of that
Cou ncil Member Jefferson said you a re saying,· a,,othe r oerson erects a m ural they rece ive a similar letter

whole Sign Code?
D1rec to r Whi te said we are not making prog ress hke we would have w ished when we started this process But I
