A RESOLUTI ON IN SUPPORT OF THE ENGLEWOOD COM MU NITY GARDEN.
WHERE'\S , the Ci:y ac~J'Jwledges 1ha1 a communit y garden will benefit Englewood by

WHEREAS , the Englewood Cultural Arts Commission, in co njuncti on with Denver Urban
Gardens, has proposerl an Englewood Community Garden at Dartmouth and Fox Streets in the
Cit y of Englewood; and
WHEREAS , the City is su pporting lhe Community Garder, by applying for a conditional use
for lhe p,operty.
NOW, THEREFCQE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT :
~ The City Council oflhe City of Englewood, Co lorado , hereby support s the
Co mmunity Garden, a map of which is attacherl as Exhibit .\, and encourages public support of
fund-rais ing efforts to support the garden .

COUNCIL GOAL AND PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
No formal Council action. Council has received severa l updates through Council St udy Sessions and
th e Council Newsletter.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff recommends that Council approve th e attached reso l ution su pporting the fund-raisi ng effort s
to support the garden .
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDE NTIFIED
The Englewood Cultural Arts Commission initiated th e discussion of the proposed commu nity
ga rden and so li cited th e support of Denver Urban Gardens . A Steering Committee was fo rm ed and
communi ty meetings conducted to assess interest. A conditional use permit was req uired for us e of
th e proposed D epot property site and was approved by Englewood Planni n g and Zoning on Jun e
16, 2009.
FINANCI AL IMPACT
The es timated cost of th e community garde n construction is $20,000. Funding sources will be a
coordinated effort of Denver U rban Gardens and community fund-raising.
