City staff originally dis cussed problems with the pool at Pirates Cove on Jun e 15, 2009. Co unc il
also discussed the repairs required at Pirates Cove on November 23 , 2009. At that time Council
directed staff to prepare a resolution fo r a supplemental appropriation for funds to repair th e p ool.

opened May 28, 2005.
Early in June 2009, City staff noticed water losses in the lei sure pool. After completing further
investigation an d testing it was concl uded that there were cracks in th e retu rn lin es. Repairs were
made to keep the p ool open for th e season but it was also discovered that th e leak had
compro mised the retaining wa ll to the north.
Repairs were es timated at $250,000. Th e Conservation Trust Fund ea rmarked $100,000 for pool
repairs so an additional $150,000 is needed to complete th e project. Th e City Attorney's Office has
