INTRODUCED AS A BILL BY COUNCILMAN MANN
BY AUTHORITY
ORDINANCE NO. 39 , SERIES OF 1978
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY , OF ENGLEWOOD,
COLORADO, AND THE STATE DEPARTMEHT OF HIGHWAYS, DIVISION OF
HIGHWAY SAFETY , TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS TO TRAFFIC
AiD PEDESTRIAN PROBLEMS WITHIN THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO.
WHEREAS, the implementation of traffic engineering studies
i n the City of Englc~ood wi ll support the Colorado Traffic Safety
r o gr m and reduce crash e:>:?erie11ce in the City of Englewood.

S e ction 1.
Tat the City of Englewood , Colorado, shall enter into a
ccntrac with the State Department of Highways, Division of
Safety, accord ing to the provisions of that certain written
inst r umen captioned "Contract" which is attached hereto, consist-
ing of seven (7) typewritten page s, and is hereby incorporated
herein by reference . Said instrument ge nerally provides as
follow
1. The City shall, by and through their office of
the Department of Public Works -Traffic Engineer, develop a
propos 1 fo r a traffic safety engineering study and complete all
·mmediatc and short -range improvements found necessary.
2. The City shall review and submit drafts as well
as final report by September 30, 1979 to the Division of Highway
Safety.
3. That all inunediate and short-range traffic engineer-
ing improvements shall be completed by September 30, 1981.
4. That the City shall contribute $11,769 with in-
kind services .
5. That the Department of State Highways shall
provide up to $40,000 with funds available under the Highway Safety
Act, Title 23, u .s.c., Section 402, to complete the objective of
the study.

6. That all City, State and Federal regulations applicable
shall be closely followed in all phases to accomplish the objectives
of the contract.
Section 2.
The City Council of the City of Englewood, Colorado,
hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City of Englewood, Colorado,
to subscribe his name to said Agreement on behalf of the City
Council of the City of Englewood, Colorado, and the Director
of Finance, ex officio City Clerk-Treasurer, shall attest the
same.

A. The State shall reimburse the Co ~lractor for lhe
