Th a t Sc~t io n 2(c), Chapter 3, Article 1, Title IX of the 1 969 E .M .C. is hereby amended to read as follows: 9-3-2 CO NT RACTOR'S LICENSE; EXPIRATION; RENEW AL; PENALTIES Section 2. (c) Al l licenses, except those which are ca ncelled or revoked, may be renewed a nnually upon application and payment o f the required renewal fee. That Section 2, Chapter 3, Article 1, Title IX of t he 1969 E .M.C. is hereby amended by adding a new sub- section (e ) to r ead as follows: 9-3-2 CONT RACTOR'S LICENSE; EXPIRATION; RENE WAL; PENALTIES A cha nge in name, business designation or per sonnel of a license shall have the l egal e ffect of transferring the license and of operating without a license. Theref or e , all such changes shall be reported by the licensee to the Depart- men t within thirty (30) days after making s u c h c hange. 1. Inc orporat i on or change in incorporation cre ating a new legal _entity which re quires a license even though one o r more stockholders or directors h ave a license . -1- • Secti on 3. 2. The organization of a partnership or the change in a partnership creating a legal entity, which requires a new license, even though one or more of the pa~tners are licensed. 3. The dissolution of a corporation or partnership which has been licensed, terminates the license and no individual or firm may operate under such license. That Sections22, 23, and 24 of Chapter 3, Article II, of the 1969 E.M.C. are hereby amended to read as follows: 9-3-22 CLASSES; TYPES OF CONTRACTORS For the purpose of regulating and licensing contractors, such trades are divided into classes as follows: CLASS I. General Contractors' License, Unlimited: The license shall entitle the holder to contract for the building, construction, alteration or repairing of any type or size of structure permitted by this ordinance. The annual license fee shall be $150.00. CLASS II. General Contractors' License, Limited: The license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for the building, construction, alteration or repairing of buildings or structures in which the con- tract price does not exceed $50,000. The annual license fee shall be $50.00. CLASS III. Jobber Contractors' License: The license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for the building, construction, alteration or repairing of buildings or structures if the con- tract price does not exceed $5,000. The annual license fee shall be $25.00. ~ ~ -2- • • • CLASS IV. Sub-contractors' License: The license shall entitle the holder thereof to engage in contracting for labor or for labor and material, in- volving only one trade or group of related trades, such as the following: masonry, plaster, cement, elevator, roofing, waterproofing, excavation, heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, residing contractors and similar sub- contractors. The annual license fee shall be $25.00. A concrete contractor per- forming any work on City property shall comply with Section 12-2-2 of the Muni- cipal Code by obtaining an annual per- formance bond in the amount of $2,000. CLASS V. Special Contractors' License: The license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for one particular class of work. The annual license fee shall be $25.00 . Sign contractor shall furnish insurance and bonds as required by Section 22.5-11-f.2 of the Zoning Ord- inance. The license for wrecking shall entitle the holder thereof to deal in second-hand building materials. No wrecking shall be done except by a licensed wrecking contractor, except that a general contractor may wreck minor buildings or portions of buildings where such wrecking is a portion of a program of alteration or remodeling. A general contractor may use excess salvaged materials in other work constructed by him, or may dispose of same. Salvaged materials are not to be sold or offered for sale to the public on th e wrecking site . -3- • 9-3-23: • CLASS VI. Drainlayers' Licenses: The license shall entitle the holder thereof to lay sewer lines and to tap to the sewer main, but in no case perform any plumbing. The fee for such license shall be $25.00. Each application for a license shall be accompanied by a surety bond in the amount of $1,000 given to indemnify the City against any damage or liability it may incur as a result of any act or omission of the licensee, his agent, rep- resentative or employee. PLUMBING CONTRACTORS' LICENSE; FEE; BOND (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the Plumbing Contracting Business in the City of Englewood without first obtaining a license therefor. Applicants for a Plumbing Contractors' License shall be licensed as a Master Plumber by the State of Colorado. (b) The annual license fee shall be $50.00. (c) Each application for a license shall be accompanied by a surety bond in the amount of $1,000 given to in- demnify the City against any damage or liability it may incur as a result of any act or omission of the licensee, his agent, representative or employee. (d) It shall be unlawful for any person to work as a journeyman plumber in the City of Englewood without obtaining a current Journeyman Plumbers License from the State of Colorado. (e) An Apprentice Plumber is a person who works at the plumbing trade as an employee of a plumbing contractor under the direct supervision and in the immediate presence of a journeyman or master plumber. L• -4- • • (f) Each contractor shall have in his pos- session, when working in the City, his Englewood Plumbing Contractors' License Card. A Journeyman Plumber shall have in his possession, when working in the City, his State of Colorado Journey- mans' License Card. 9-3-24 ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS' LICENSE; FEES (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the electrical contracting business in the City of Englewood with- out first obtaining a license therefor from the Chief Building Inspector. Applicants for an electrical contractors license shall be licensed as a Master Electrician ~" the State of Colorado. (b) The annual license fee shall be $50.00. (c) (d) (e) (f) It shall be unlawful for any person to work as a journeyman electrician in the City of Englewood without obtaining a current Journeyman's Electrical License from the State of Colorado. An Apprentice electrician is a person who works at the electrical trade as an employee of an Electrical Contractor under the direct supervision and in the immediate presence of a journeyman or master electrician. A person engaged in the installation and maintenance of fire detection, fire alarm, burglar alarm, pneumatic control and all signaling systems where the electric voltage does not exceed 48 volts shall be licensed as a sub-contractor by the City of Englewood. Each electrical contractor shall have in his possession when working in the City his Englewood Contractor's License card. A Journeyman Electrician shall -5- • . . ·.r : . • • • Section 4. have in his possession when working in the City his State of Colorado Journey- man's License Card. That Sections 25 and 26, Chapter 3, Article II, Title IX, of the 1969 E.M.C. are hereby repealed. Section 5. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Introduced, read in full and passed on first reading on the 7th day of April, 1975.
