It ahall be the duty of every police o leer to te lnto~--po•••••ion, and to deliver the same to the Chief of Police or to hi• deaivnee, each and every article or object of peraonal property loat or abandoned within the City of Bnglewood, which article or object ahall be held by the Chief of Police for disposi- tion in accordance with the proviaiona of thia ordinance. 11.6-2 Propertf Uaed aa Bvidence. It •hall be the duty of the Chief of Police to ho d pending final diapoaition of any charge• filed in the llunicipal court againat the owner or poaaeaaor thereof, all articles of peraonal property aeized aa evidence for UH in the trial of such chargea. After final diapoaition of aaid cha&-99•• •aid articles, except in the ca•• of dangeroua or deadly weapon• who•• diapoaition is governed by 1119.2-5 and 19.2-6 of thi• llunicipal Code, and except a• the llunicipal Judge .. Y otherwiae direct, ahall, upon requeat by the right- ful owner thereof and the pr•••ntation of aatiaf actory proof of owner- ahip, be turned over to auch rightful owner. In the abaence of such a requeat, the .... •hall be diapoaed of in accordance with the provisions of thia ordinance. 11.6-3. Procedure for Sile. Any loat or abandoned property left unclaimed for a perlOd of thirty (o) day• or 110re, and any property used as evidence which r ... ina unclaiaed for thirty (30) daya or 110re after final disposi- tion ofany charge• relating thereto, .. Y be aold and disposed of, fran till• to tille, by the Chief of Police, in accordance with the following procedureaa (a) Rot le•• than ten (10) daya prior to the contemplated •ale of auch articlea, there •hall be publiahed in the City's official newapaper a notice aetting forth a deacription of each article to be aold, the time, date and place of the sale and that any peraon who clailla to be the owner of any article so described aay appear at the Police Departm.nt prior to the time and date aet for •ale thereof to reclaia the .... upon presentation of aatiafactory proof of hi• ownerahip thereof. (b) All article• deacribed in aaid notice and left unclaimed at the time and date aet in the notice for the aale thereof shall be aold at public •ale to the higheat bidder and the Chief of Police ahall give to each purchaaer a bill of aale for the same. (c) All proceed• frcm the aale of auch articles •hall be depoaited to the credit of the Police Retir ... nt Fund for the Police Department of the City of Bnglewood. 11.6-4. Di•DO•al of Abandoned Tor• and 9ildren'• Articles. At the option of tlHtahlef of Police, any toy• ~ W'hataoever nature, including bicycle• and tricycle• and other article• aade for uae of children, which are left unclailDed for thirty (30) daya or more, may be sold in accordance with 111.6-3 or, in the alternative, may be given to such needy and unfortunate children within the City aa the Chief of Police d .... appropriate.
