HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959 Ordinance No. 012BY AUTHORITY ORDINANCE NO. 12 SERIES OF 1959 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING FOUR COUNCIL DISTRICTS WITHIN THE CITY OF ENGLEWOCJ>, COLORADO, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 22, SERIES OF 1957, AND ALL arHER ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOCI>, COLORADO : ·Section 1. There are hereby established within the City of Englewood four Council Districts, the boundaries of which are hereby established as follows: (a) Council District No. 1 shall include and be comprised of all that part of the City of Englewood lying North of the center line of East and West Hampden Avenue and West of the center line of South Logan Street. (b) Council District No. 2 shall include and be comprised of all that part of the.City of Englewood lying North of the center line of East Hampden Avenue and East of the center line of South Logan Street. (c) Council District No. 3 shall include and be comprised of all that part of the City of Englewood lying South of the center line of East and West Hampden Avenue and North of the center line of East and West Quincy Avenue from the center line of South Clarkson Street to the center line of South Jason Street and East of the center line of South Jason Street from the center line of West Quincy Avenue to the center line of West oxford Avenue, and North of the center line of West oxford Avenue from the center line of South Jason Street to the Westerly city limita. (d ) Council District No. 4 shall include and be comprised of all that part of the City of Englewood lying South of East and West Quincy Avenue from the center line of South Clarkson Street to the center line of South Jason Street, and West of the center line of South Jason Street from the center line of West Quincy Avenue to the center line of West oxford Avenue, and South of the center line of West oxford Avenue from the center line of South Jason Street to the Westerly city limits. Section 2. The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares that the Council Districts set forth in Section l above have approximately the same number of registered voters, as determined by the number registered to vote at the preceeding General Municipal Election, and that the variance in number of registered voters is not greater than 151 between the District with the highest number of registered voters and the District with the lowest number of regis- tered voters. Section 3. The establishment of four new Council Districts as set forth in this ordinance shall not affect the terms and tenures of the present members of the City Council, which shall continue un- til the election and/or appointment and qualification of their suc- cessors in office. Section 4. Ordinance No. 22, Series of 1957, and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
