(ORDINANCE NO. 26 , SERIES OF 1963, AS AMENDED) AND DECLARING AN
El-lERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the goal of the Comprenensive Plan of the City of
Englewood adopted by Council Heso l ution 49 , Se ries of 1979 , wa s to
revitalize the So uth Br oadway r e tail a rea; and
WHEREAS, a pro posal for design guidelines implements the goal
by giving standards for the renovation of front and r ear f acades of
s tructures a long So uth Broadway ; and
WHERF.AS, it is necessa ry t o provide g uidelines t o a rchitects,
e nginee rs, and owne r s in developing their property; and
WHEREAS , the proposed guide line~ r eestablishes a nd unifi,;a
bui lding facades and .01,ld r emove uno ·c essary vi s ual c lutter,
imp r ove t he quality of the pedestri an e xperi e nce , r eestablish a,1,.
encourage upper level office and r es idential uses , upgrade the
appea ran ce of the rear of buildings , and impro ve servi ce access ;
