BACKGROUND The City of Englel>'ot,d has used the Uniform Fire Code as a model fire safety code since 1979. The ;,u,form Fire Code is updated by •~e Western Fire Chief s Association and the lnternat i<,nal Conference of Build i ng 0f t1ci al s every three yea rs in order to keep pace with changing construct i on 1chnology and life safety concerns.
