collection or rc,cycling service ; or r errove any recyclabl e
reterial :'::-on a container , t:ox , collection vehicle , depot or

O\:her recept,cle for the <>:cumulation, storage, or sale of
re::yclable m.,terial, and ~n conviction the reof shall be subject -
to the penalties prescribed in Section 1-4-1 o f the Englewood
Municipal Code.

Approv al of a Bill for an Ordinance prohibiting scavenging of recyc !J11ble materials
i n the City of Englewood.
PREVIOUS COUHCIL ACTION
on March 7, 1991, City Council paaaed, in an emergency ordi .,ance, Ordinance No. ,,;,
series of 1991, approving the SMART Grant contract between the State of coJ.:,rai!o and
the City of Englewood. Paragraph 1, aubsect~on 4 of that Ordinance reads: "An
anti-scav enging of separated recyclable ■ ordinance will be reviewed."
STAFF ANALYSIS
This Ord inance will serve as another i ndicat c..r o f the City's support of the
recycl ing program. The intent of this ordinance ia to make it unlawful to scavenge
recycla bl es from recyclable material wh ich is to be collected by a collection
service ....-hich has permission from th-e owner of recyclable material.
