ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WHICH IS FUNDING FOR A NEW MOBILE DATA
TERMINAL SERVER TO RUN NCIC/CCIC CLEA RANCES .
WHEREAS, the Englewood Departmenl of Safely Services, reque sted fundi ng for a
new Mobile Dala Terminal Server lo run NCICICCIC clearances which will provide
stabilizalion lo the Mobile Da1 a Sy slem ; and
WHEREAS , the Justice As sislance Gran! is a non-matching granl; and
WHEREAS, the City of Englewood submiued an application and has been awarded a
$26,562 grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS:

the acceptance of the Justice As sislanco Grant from Edward Byrne Justice Ass istance
Grant Program lo the Ci ty of Englewood, altached hereto as Exhibit A.

STANDARD ASSURANCES
Toe Appl icant hereby assures and cenifies compliance with all applicable Federal statutes , regulations prilicies ,

As requ ired by the Drug-Free Worl<place Act of 1988, and implemented at 28 CFR Part 67, Subpart F, for
grantees, as defined at 28 CF R Part 67 Sections 67 .615 and 67 .620

{a) Publishing a statement notifying employees that the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing,

{b) Establ ishi ng an on-going drug-free awareness program to inform employees about
(1) The dangers of drug abuse in the worl<pla ce ;
(2) The grantee's policy of maintaining a drug-free wor1<place ;
(3) Any available dNg counseling, re habilitation, and employee assistance programs; and
(4) The penalties that may be imposed upon employees for dNg abuse violations occurring in the worl<place ;

(d) Notifying the employee in the statement required by paragraph (a) that, as a condition of employment under
the grant, the employee will

The Englewood Department of Safety Services, Pollce Division, requests funding for a new
Mooite Data Tem,lnal Se rver to run NCJC/CCIC clearances. This purchase wlll prov,de
stablllzatlon to the Mobile Data System, as the current computer was not des igned for this
purpose and !:. prob lemauc In Its function . This server Is a vital part of the Mobile Data
Svstem . A Hewlett Packard rack serve:-wlll cost $3,263. We are requesting $23 ,299 to help
offset th-:: cost of a computer akted dispatch hardwue upgrade. The total cost of t tie system
Is s~:.,738. The current equipment Is outdated. Recent problems with the currant equi pment
ha\e dictated the need for the purchase of new equipment to upgrade to a windows
platform. Th is wlll provide an efficient system and Increased officer safety. The De partment
of St:fety Se rvices wlll fund the remaining $28,439 . Our system will rematn Colorado Justice
lnfom,atlon System Security (CJISS) compllant.

D ata Terminal Serve r to run NCIC/CCIC clea rances. This purch ase w ill provi de stabilizati on to the
Mobile Data Syst em, as th e c urrent computer is not designed for th is purpose. This serve r is a vital
part o ( th e Sys tem .
Additionall y, we requested fu ndi ng to offse t th e cos t o ( a c omputer aicJed dispatc h hardware
upgrade . The curr ent equ ipm ent is outdat ed. Re ce nt conce rn s wi th th e curr ent equipmen t have
dictated th e n eed fo r p urchase of th e new equipm ent to upgrade to a Windows platform . This w ill
prov id e an efficient sys tem and in crease offi ce r sa fety.
