NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CI TY CO u , Cit, OF '!'HE CITY
OF ENGLEWOOD , COLORADO , AS FOLLOWS:

Title 2, of the Englewood Municipal Codr 2000, by ar'ding a new Chapter 11 ,

On January 16, 2001, City Council was prese:ited with the foundatJon for creation of 1he Alli .nee
for Commerce in Englewood (ACE ), as a means of addressing the importance or busin s~ dr.J
citizen 1molvement in local government and establishing an advisory group focused on the creation
oi an em 1ronment 1n "h1ch e Ist1ng business can thn e and nl:'w business can prosper.
RECOMME OED CTIO
Staff recommends appro al of the ordinance that creates tht: 6-.CE as a seveirmember business
ad isory group for the Ci of Englewood.
BACKGROU D, A Al YS IS, D LTE R ATIVES IDENTIFIED
The creation of ACT is part of a plan directed b City Council to continue 10 strengthen our quality
of life by addressing the issue of communicatioo with establishment of a business advisory group, a
method of bringing di\ erse business Interests together to address sp ific concerns and expand the
pool of potential solutions. This new busin ss advisory group can pro ide input from the
community most affected by new oty regulations. Drawing on the experus 1d ex perience of our
business lea ders p ro\1des unique opportuni to Impro e prosp n for En glewood. Creating a
partnership between government and the business co mmunitv will go far to creating ir n
improved climate of trus t and prosperi .
Englewood has bee n successful in taclcling manv diverse areas of economic de elopment for the
communi rhrough the redevelopmen t of Cinderella City all , implementing the South Br oad\\J}'
Action Plan im pro ements to South Santa Fe and the proposed rede elopment of General lrori
orks . Recognizing that he qu lit-, o life ror its cit :Pns is directly rel ated to the v11ality of the
commercial concerns, he Council has taken eff uv s1o:ps to creating a "busIn ss friendly"
atmosphere.

Chamber oi Comm rce, including he c0<ha1rs, execume director and the go ernn.~ntal affairs
