MEMBER BRADSHAW AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 2A, OF THE ENGLEWOOD MUNICIPAL CODE 1985, PERTAINING TO THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO . WHEREAS, the City of Englewood baa used the Uniform Building Code u a model construction code since 1970; and WHEREAS , this Cod, is updated periodically to keep paoe with changing construction technology : and WHEREAS , the City of Englewood Division or Building and Safety atalf bu thoroughly reviewed the t997 Edition of the Uniform Building Code and recommends adoption thereof subject to certain exceptions, modifications and amendment; and WHEREAS , the Englewoo.! City Council bu expresaeci the need £or revitalization of existing single family, owner occupied, dwellings within the City of Englewood; and WHEREAS , I-Ian Review fees will be waived to encourage the application of savings toward the homeowners' remodeling efforts; NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO , AS FOLLOWS : &s.1iwu. Add the following exception at the end flfthe first peragraph of Appendix Section 1515 2 1· Pre·Roof Inspection Exception: One and two family dwellings shall be exempt from the requirement for pre-roof inspections. -2- • F-~-Appendix section 3011.5 shall be replaced with the following: 3011 .5 Fees . A fee for each permit or certificate of inspection shall be paid to the City of En1lewood ae follows : New installations: Fees for new installations shell be as set forth in Table No . 1-A. Fees for major alterations shall be as set f~,th in Table No . I ·A. Installation fees include charges for the fir st year's annual inspection fee and charges for the electrical equipment on the conveyance side of the disconnect switch. Ap~endix section 3012 shall be replaced with the following: Section 3012 • ANSI Code adopted • All new elevators , dumbwaiters , escalators and moving walks and major alterations to such conveyances and the installation thereof shall conform to the requirements of the American National Standard Institute ANSI/ASME Al 7. I -¼99il ~Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators, publiahed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. • H l-Appendix chapter 34 , division II • Life-safety requirements for existing high- rise buildings shell be replaced with the following: Section 3417 • Appeals board. Any party who has a pending application, where the permit application and final site plan have been submitted to the City before the date of final adoption of this Ordinance, shall make an election to proceed under either the current Code or the 1997 Code but not a combin».tion thereof. These codes Included the Uniform Building Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, Uniform Fire Code, Un ifo rm Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings and the 1993 National Electrical Code. RECOMMENDED ACTION The Building Division of the Department of Safety Services recommends the adoption , by ordinance, of the 1997 series ot Uniform Codes including the 1999 National Electrical Code. BACKGROUNIJ, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED The 1997 series of Uniform Codes provide regulatory guidelin ~s that reflect the most recent technological advancements and safety factors for residential and r:ommercial properties In the City .
