WHEREAS, tbs City of Englewood has uaed the Uniform Fire Code as a model co nstruction code since 1970; and ' WHEREAS, this Code ia updated periodically to keep pace with changing construction technology; and WHEREAS, the City of Englewood Division of Building sn<i S..fety staff has thoroughly reviewed the 1997 Edition of the Uniform Fire Code and recommends adoption thereof subject to certain exceptions, modifications and amendment; NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO , AS FOLLOWS: Ssti:l,iwu. The City Council of tbs City of Englewood, Colorado hereby amenda Title 8, Chapter 2E , of the Englewood Municipal Code 1985, to read aa followa : CHAPTER 2 CONSTRUCTION AND SAFETY CODES ARTICLE E FIRE CODE 8-2E-l: CODE ADOPTED: There is hereby adopted, by reference thereto, the Uniform Fire Code , Volumes I anrl II, -Hl94 lil7 Edition, including Appendix chapters 1-B, !-C, 11-B, 11:D, 11-E, 11-F , Ill-A, lll-B. 111-C, IV-A. IV-B, V-A, VI-A. VI-B, VI-C, ¥1-P, VI-E. VI-F agd VI-0 published by the International Fire Cod , Ins\Jtute, 9300 Jollyville Road, Suite 106, Austin, Texas 787 f,9-7466, subject to ,xcep<ions, modifications and amendment& as set forth in Section 8·2E·2 of this Article . Greene , Fire Marsh r,I COUNCIL GOAL AND PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION The 1994 series of Uniform Codes were adopted by Counc il and become effective on January 22 , 1994. These codes included the Uniform Building Code , Uniform Plumbing Code , Ur:form Mechanical Code, Un iform Fire Code, Un iform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings and the 1993 National Electrical Code . RECOMMENDED ACTION The Build ing Division of the Department of Safety Services recommends the adoption, by ordinance , of the 1997 series of Uniform Codes including the 1999 National Electrical Code . BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED The 1997 seri6 : of Un iform Codes provide regulatory guide li nes that reflect the most recent technoiogical advancements and safety factors for res idential and commercial prope11es In the Cl~/.
