BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERIIATIVES IDENTIFIED The Depanment of Safety Se rvic es co ndu cts .,,._,h ceni fi ed and non -ce rtified VIN Inspectio ns for ci llzens . Currently, Safety Service s does not charge for 1his se rv ice. Th e proposed fees would initially be set at $20 for cen,fi ed , and S 1 O for non -cenified inspect ions . Th e pol icy will be periodically review ed and r.h ang ed as deemed necessary by the Director of Safe ty S'rvice,. The Ices from th is prog ra m will go into General Fund revenu es to help offset costs assoc iated with perform ing th is servit -~. The proposed policy is adopted from the Colorado Stata Patro l's poli cy . The City Code would reference the policy , but the po li cy would not be included in Code . After ado ption , an information sheet will be printed and av ailable at re cords . No alte rn at ives were ident ified .
