Recognition of Scheduled Public Comment (a) Ci ty Council recognized the stud ent anists whose artwork is included in the ~006 Englewood Calendar: Mayor Wol osyn said we are honoring students whose artwork is featured in th e 2006 Englewood Calendar. Eac h ye ar, the City holds an art co ntest th3t is open to a ll stud ents who live or go 10 school ir, Englewood. Thi s year, 15 pieces we re chose n for the calendar. I wo uld like to thank 1he art teachers in Englewood who gi ve us so muc h s up port every year o n this project. 1 think th ey fo ster wo nderful llrt work among all of you. Sannah 's artwor k, "The Ant in the Grass," appears on the cover. This is the 2116 ye.ir Sannah has had her artwork included in th e ca lendar. We have two artists in February: Henry Andrykowski is a 6111 Grader at Fl ood Middle School . Hi s work is a se lf-portrait entitled "Delightful . Co lorful H !." and Stevie Campbell is al so a 61ll Grader at Flood . Her wo rk is also a sel f-portrait. Natasha Fish is a 9th Grader at Sonfi sh Academy. I ha ve n't talked to him for abo ut three wee ks, but three weeks ago he was really irritated abo ut the way he was treated by the Cir y. Shirl ey Frie nd came to tow n seve n years ago . and I know yo u guys have worked rea ll y hard th is summer wi th Shirl ey. When she ca me to town to start a little busine ss , she wanted 10 mas sage folk s' fe el. She checked wi th whateve r pl aces arou nd Ci ty Hall th at she needed to chec k with a nd ra n her busin ess accord in g to the specs th at were av ailabl e at the tim e she ca me in10 busine ss. beca use there were n't any rul es al lha1 po int. The n th is summe r. her whole world caved in. It cost her a whole bunch of mo ney fo r alt orn ey fees and she spe nt lots of tim e 1alkin g with you al l. Again, we are nol opposed to bringing in another copy of that paperwork or Cnir1g what we need to , but I thin k it would be a nice addition to that area . Ht sai d, as yo u know, the Librnry had a bookmCi bile fo r a num ber of years and as de mographics changed and needs changed, eventually it was no t rea lly used anymore . It was leased to r 1las Co unt y Libraries and they made a propo~I to purchase the bookmobi le a nd Counci l agreed to do that in Aug ust 2vv5 for $28 ,000 .00. One suggesti on, a coupl e of the business es seemed 10 ha ve been caught off-guard , but :1 was nice to go • around and sec them pretty jam packed over at Tokyo Joe's. And the Pu b did wcll ... 1hc places th at I could sec , there were • a lot of people di sbu rs ing and kind of giving us so me re venue as well. It was a very ni ce eve nt. 2. She said Pos iti vely Englewood did do a pre sentati on al th e end of that event. I wanted to thank Campu s Cycles and the businesses that have contributed . While th is particular section of thi s program that we did fo r Pos it ively Eng lewood is ca ll ed Bike a Month for Chri stma s, we went ahead and did three. Thi s lime we did an essay where people wrote and said wh y !hey fell a child was dese rving of thi s. so it was so mebudy else nPmin atin g 1hese children . And I cann ot tell yo u how impres sive so me of the se yo un g peo ple are in our co mmunit y. The three pe ople who rece ived th e bikes ... it was a hard choic c ... but 1he three peopl e who di d. we were very impressed wi th !h ei r com mitme nt to their fami ly and 1he community . And it wo n't be a goa l setting retreat, in that we ha ve se t go al s. And, I believe, our goals should form th e di sc uss ion at the retreat. We have a lot of big iss ue s comin g up , not the least of which is if thi s agreement docs go thro ugh and that devel opm ent happen s ove r in Sheridan , ju st the fa ct that thi s devel opment is on the edge of our commun ity and it will hove an imp act on us.
