groups ... but th ese two groups. What I n th e ci1 y government do. worki ng wit h the schoo ls si nce 1hey are ... n01
co mpeting ... but different govern men ta, 5tru cturcs ? How ca n th e City and the Schoo l Di stri ct work toge ther ? You guys
make hundreds of decisions every year. Deci sions on thin gs like rul es about allowing houses to bt> bigger ... popping tops
an d scraping off and those kinds of thin gs. Tha t would be. I would suppose , the kind of decision that yo u all wo uld make
that co uld possi bly have an impa ct on families . I gue ss I would urge you, as srnff and as Counc il. to have, as an clement in
your decisi on•making deliberations .. how will thi s affect our family friendlin ess '? How can we encournge more families to
move here? What ca n we do to make Pnglewood a more aurac ti ve place to raise a fornily ? What can we do to keep our
own kid s here? In January, when yo u all and the Ci ty Co uncil mee t wi th the Sc hoo l Boa rd to talk about thing s in
commo n ... I hope that you and the Schoo l Boa rd can work logeth er and brainstorm 10 co me up wit h some ideas on ha ving a
family with children friendly, kind ofplo.ce. Thank you . Merry Chri stmas to you all .

the new Schoo l Board rnembcrs and a1 least one of 1he cxis1ing membe rs ... we ha ve talk ed qui te a bit about partn erin g and
wha t can be done. I think !h ere are a 101 of demographic types of thin gs goin g on in Engl ewood, thal limit th e number of
yo ung famili es that we ha ve moving into our area . Th ere were a co uple of the item s that I fo und out abo ut, when I was on
the ca mp aign trail. I wns thinking th at I wa s an old 1imer in th is town at 28 years and th en I mc1 people wh o have been here
35, 40 and 45 years ... up to either 55 or 60 years. A lot of th ose people arc sta yi ng here . It leaves us with a lot of our
small er houses ... our 800 to 1000 squ are foo t houses ... two bedroom homes. When peo ple move into those homes and kid s
are born and then a seco nd child is bo rn , usuall y 1hosC; people need to move on and one thin g about En glewood , yo u ke ep
hearing that "oh, yes, Englewood is affo rd able'', but when you start looking at houses big ge r than 800 to I 000 square feet
and you st art lookin g at Englewood and what ii cos ts, pe r sq uare foo t, to li ve here, it isn't so affordable and so metimes it is
chea per to mov e into oth er cities, oth er municipalities, oth er suburbs. I loo k fo rward to servi ng on th e Sc hoo l/Ci1 y
Commi11e e and to our meeting in Janu ary wi th 1he Sc hoo l Board. so we can start addressi ng so me or the se ite ms.
