Mr. Garrell sa id onl y fo r the location on Grant. Ms . Brad sha w said yes, on ly al the Grant loca ti on.
But, Council Member Barrentine sai d, ii ha s co me up about some other organizati ons 1hnt, poten1inlly , don't charge
th e citizens anythin g to do thing s whe re there are remodels or things done :it their home or th t!y ue not charging the
citizens if it would make it more attractiv e fo r them to provide th ose se rvice s for Englewood citizens. It mi ght co me
up for so me other entities. And if we were able 10 write thing s up so th 11 we ca n :ittr:ict th ose kind s of peopl e 10
co me in and se rvice thi s community ... wh o are n't charging 1heir citizer .s. who are improving their property, then ii
might be so melhi ng we would want 10 loo k al. So. while I don't hnv,. a prob lem wi th doing the House of Hope, I
think n communit y a1trac1s bu sine sses by even toyi ng wit h the iJe 11 of not all owi ng them to pay sale s tax for a
ccnain per iod of time . If you have an avenue where you can lake non.profit organizations that are donating or doin g
free work fo r people who are disabled or elderly or for whatever reaso n, and are improvin g their propeny so 1ha1
th ey ca n re mai n in this commun il y, th at the subject will come up again . If you hav e an objecti on to th e idea of ii,
then ma ybe we co uld di sc uss it now.
Cou ncil Me mbe r Woodward said I didn 't have an objec ti on. I was just trying 10 get clear on i1• Ms. Barrentine said
I didn 't mean to loo k direc tl y at yo u when I was talking , I'm sorry. Mr . Woodward said I was tr ying to get c lear on
who we were talk ing about. if we were talkin g about 1hr im provement s or if we we re ta lking about all salt:s tax for
any purchases tha t they may make ... fo r offi ce eq uipm e nt , fo r wha te ver , th at's what I w:i s tryi ng to get cle ar on. Ms.
Bradshaw said they already have th at cc r1 ifi cu 1e 10 iak e ca re oftlrnt. It is just that on th e co n1ru c:tor and I thin k thi s
bathroom addition is goi ng to be sizeable . It reall y looks ve ry co mpli c,ued .
Ms . Wolosy n said so thi s will be for use ta x, right '!
Cou ncil Member Bradshaw sa id ye,;; and sa les tax on 11~terials . Yo u guys, wh at is the maxi mum amo unt of ma ne~
Wt! arc ta lh., .. tl about? Director Simpson sa id based on the proposed scope of work , I be lieve th111 1hc sa les and use

Mayor Garre n said 1herc arc 1wo way s we can approach this. We can do this as sort of an ad hoc resoluti on th is
eveni ng, and ii changes. maybe, th e timi ng of th e reimbursement, or we co ul d outl ine th e cril cria that we're goin g
through ... why we think th ey qunliry fo r thi s, so future Coun cil s wi ll know why we did it specifi call y. Th at wo uld
be my preference. If we wa it until the nex t mc:cti ng and p.:tss ii as a reso lu1 ion. it is II lin lc more detailed .
Co un cil Member Bradshaw sa i I think that is important. Ms. Wol osy n said I agree.
Ms. Barre ntine said do you wa nt to spl it it out so that there is someth ing fo r the future ... splir thi s parti cular one out
as 3 rebat e, beca use th ey have alrea dy paid it? Do th at one separate and then do so met hin g se para te fo r the future .'/
Mayo r Garrett sa id I was looki ng at it from an entity basi s ... th at we say the House of Hope, beca use th ey arc based
in Englewood , they prov ide the se services for Englewood, th ey are up grad in g a prope rt y th at has been neglected
over the years and we be lieve th :it it wi ll add va lue to th e com munity. Sort of lhe criteria why we think we should
do th is for the House of Hope .
Whic t:, Coun ci l Member Barrenti ne sai d, wo uld take care of wha t they have already paid and the future all oca ti on?
Mayor Garrett sa id yes, until Cou nci l dec id es not to do th at.

(ii ) Co uncil Member Woodward :
1. He S<\id we co mple ted our last day of the Househo ld Hazardous Waste Roundup and we had approx imately
200 vehicles come through there ... th at we allowed to go throu gh, We probably had another 50 minimum that we
had to tum away beca use they were not from the Cit y of Englewood or the City of Littleton. Unfortu na tely . there
was some press, I think from the Roc ky Mou ntain News that mornin g, lhat had mentio ned lhat we were havi ng thi s
Roundup, In an y event, we were unab le to 1akc the stuff th at th ey had , because it cost us app roxi mat ely three times
the am ount of the co-pa y to take the thin gs from each vehicle , So , anyway. we were ve ry succe ss ful in what we had
done and ve ry pleased and hopefu ll y we will see the numbers shon ly.
2. He said I wanted to mention about a Neighborhood Wa tch meeti ng th at I all ended a co upl e of week s ago,

so me crimes that had hap pe ned against so me of th e sen iors in our communit y. Wh en I heard th at, I too k a li1tlc
int eres t in th at. simply be e sc I had talked to a friend of min e at an Eng lewood Hi gh Sc hoo l socce r ga me and she
told me about an incide nt I her parents had, at the end of Augus t, at a Ki ng Soopers he re loc all y. Her moth er, an
85 yea r old wo man , was followed home by three ind ividual s in a car who had daimcd to her th at she had hit the
curb and ben t up her ti re. As these two peop le were in her ya rd talkin g to her , th e third individua l entered her home .
Fortunately, her hu sband wa s there and told him to ge t out. 13ut th e poi nt being, th at in talking to Su san McDonnell
thi s mornin g rega rdin g that .. 10 see if she was aware ~f that, she said that it appears th at we are having a numbe r of
proble ms like tha t and th ey ki nd of come and go wi th our seni ors in th e Cit y. I guess wit h that . 1 wou ld like to ask
Tom Mund s if ma ybe so mc1hi11g co uld be pu l in the Herald just as kin g us, as ci tizens and seniors, 10 be ca refu l of
purses, oi our property and fo r us as citizens to be watchi ng out fo r 01.ir fellow seni ors. Also, maybe Jerrell or I
could ia lk 10 Joe Sack about ment ioni ng thi s ove r at th e Mall ey Cc nt cr ... no t to alarm anybody, but to get a little bit
more community awareness and community support.
