ind ivi dual even ts, whe re each une of us run s the ent ire course by ourselves. Goi ns 10 Vegas ... thi s is a 101 of
exposure. Thi s is an Intern ati onal compct iti on ... a lot ofCun:irl ian tea ms, obviously a lot of Amcrkan 1ea ms und

do that . Mr. Rede said we ha ve been working with Director Olson and he re co mm end ed tha~ we co m~ and talk to
you all fir st before we even looked el sewhere . I und erstand yo u all were just trying 10 reduce 1he budget by
S400 ,()(':l.OO, so our timing might be kind of bad righl now. Ms. Druds hnw said we di d lh :11 bc!\J1 c we came in so it

Mr. Cro ny recogniu:d 1he Commission mem bers in the audi ence . There wa s applause . We just wanted 10 co me to
Council and give yo u an upd ate on the Kee p En glewood Beautiful 5K , whi ch was held on August 28 111• II was the
first 5K in Engle wood ... within the City limits. Thi s was part of our fund rai sin g effort for our Household
Hazard ous Waste Roundup, which is an extreme ly expensive eve nt for us. In the fir st yea r we had a lot 10 learn .
We had ne ver done anyt hin g quite so involved before , but we want to th an k you guys for your parti cipati on ... for
helping us with our donors and some of ou r sponsors . We had a total of 84 entrants of which 67 ran ... whi ch,
according to our eve nt s manager, was pretty good fo r a fir st year, so we we re happ y about that. We had J 1otal of
56.137 .00 in prize donati ons fr on, Englewood businesses that support ed our efforts in thi s and ac tuall y pro vided. I
think , a Joi of intere st in the race 1,nd a lot of gra teful people al the end . The maj ority of our runn ers were betwee n
th e age s of 10 and 60. We had e::.penditurcs of $1,450.00, the total participan ts fees coll ec ted were $2,615 .00 and
we ncll ed $1, !64 .00 in II .a t cff-.:.1 which is not bad fo r the fir st year. We had severa l hundred vo lunteer hours just
from th e Com mi ss ion alone. as well as 1he Cit y Co unc il member s who helped us wi1h thi s. We wa n1 10 tha nk
eve rybody, includin g 1he 29 sponsors and th e 84 runners. all of whom co ntrib ut ed at le as t S20.00 to th e event So .
th ank you fvr yo ur effort . We rea lly appreciate it an d we look forw :1rd lo a bigge r an d be tt er even t nex t year.

(i) Director Gryglewicz presented n recomme nd ation from th e Dcpanmcnt or Finance and
Administrative Services to ado pt a reso lutio n approvi ng the Transfe r of Funds fro m the Ri sk Management Fund to
the Empl oyee Benefits Fund. Mr. Gryglcwicz said thi s transfer is between the Risk Manage ment Fund of
$300,000.00 to the Empl oyee Be, ~fit s Fund . Wh at happened wns th e prem ium s th at are paid were based on 27 pay
periods of co llec ti on, but there arc actually onl y 26 this year ... there arc actually 27 paychecks cut thi s year, but onl y
26 pay periods ... so they are beh ind one revenue payment . So to make it whole, there is a trans fer from the Risk
Managemen! Fund, whi ch thi s year has a sma ll amo unt of excess, so it is just a straigh t across transfer.

software providers and 1t;n vcd u~n the recommendatio n of r:RW , based on a co mbinati on of 1he so ftware
functi onalit y, the technica l fit of the product , the business pa rtner Iii and fin all y ii was the lowest cos t alternative fo r
the City, both on the ca pital expenditure and ope rat ing basi s. Thi s docs come in be low th e proj ec t es tim 1ue of
$348,000.00 . Th e co mple1e contract, including implementation se rvices and item s 10 be proc ured separately by the
Cily is $2 71,000 .00

1. She said we ha ve a re.co luli on refunding rhc permit fees, sale s and use lax paid by the co ntr actor for the
House of Hope located at 330 1 Sot.1., Grant in Englewood . This isjusl a one time thing, is thi s correct? Mayor
Garren s11id correct. Ms. Bradshaw sai d okay.
Council Member Brad:.haw sai d will we get a letter off to those folks to say ... look you do ha ve:?. non-profit tax ID,
figure out how to use it? City Attorney Brotzman sai d we have that prepared. Because, Ms . Bradshaw sai d, I don't
know that we can continue to do this each time.
The resolution was assigned a number and read by title.

Mayor Garrett said we have a resolution declaring the intent of the City of Englewood 10 sign the Metro Mayors'
Cauc us 2004 Regional Memorandum of Understanding on Water. When I received thi s, know ing that I had no
experti se, I had Stu Fonda re vie w it and he thought it was in Englewood's interest that we should sign up for thi s
Memorandum of Understanding . Given that, I would ask the Clerk to ass ign it a number.

13. City Manager's Report
(a) City Manager Scars said 1 would like to note publicly th at I am very happy to be ab le to appoim
Rick Kahm to the position of Public Works Director. Rick has served the City fo r 37 years . He has been a ,n:!:i1ber
of the team and actually did app ly ... at one point in time ... to be Public Works Director , but he also served the City
very well as Capital Projects Director. I think thi s will be a bl ending of so me of those rcspomibilities. Rick has
served this City extremely well and docs an cx1raordinary job providing leadership and working with other members
of the Council and members of the management team. I am very pleased that Ri ck has accepted the appointment
and look forward to him providing leadership in that rol e.

City Attorney Brotzman did not ha ve any mauers to bring before Counci l.
