The Counci l appointed us to work out the se issues. Mayor Garre n has been instrumenta l in gu id ing thi s Com miltec to what J believe is a win/wi n for all parties. He ha ~ done a grea1 deal of hea lin g of our feeling s here, as business peop le in the co mmunity. He certainl y should be com mended for that. We just hope 1hat a com men t that came out prior to the mora1orium, 1ha1 some thi ng like th at would nOI come agai n without some definite thought about previ o us s1udics and where industr y was at th at particular time . A sta ff member stood up before you the night that the moratorium was appro ve d and said 1ha1 1hi s bill would stop th e establishmenl and expansion of auto uses , that the rationa le here is that these uses represc nl an encroachment on your sale tax base and prec lude other u~ lhat would provide retail synergy and help us ac hie ve the Co uncils' go:ils for Broadway. That really got us fired up and we think we deserve to be here as much as anybody else . Again, I would just urge you 10 vote in fa vor of thi s and let's go forwa rd . We wani to work wi1 h staff. we want to work with Co uncil, we want 10 be able to sa y Hi to everybody and be worki ng towa rd the sa me goal a nd I thank everybody here who has worked with us .
