Englewood, it is phenomenal . She noted sh,; can recall standing before Council two and a half ye:irs ago.

become a very import24, and succossful , cultunll event for our City , of which we can all be proud .
Ms. LaPorta Kreiger odvisal that, to add to the Sounds of Summer Concerts th is yC3J', which begi ns June
11•. the Engle..,ood Cul111131 Arts ContMi ssion has acquired two sculpllll<S that an, going to be plaocd in
the Little Dry Creel< area bd'orc the concerts begin. Chi ld of Peace is bein~ given to us, for our use, by the
Museum of Outdoor Art and will be plaC<d on a pedestal that is on the nonh side of Little Dry ·Creck . She
slllled a pictun, of the sculpture with Council. Ms . LaPorta Kn:iger advi,ed that they have been very
gixious 10 do this and we :n so appn,ciative of their efforts that went into acquiring thi s for US . The othe r
EUlpcurc, which will be placed on the south side, under the umbrclln~ will provide an acstl1etic value ns
•-dl as a ~n cxpcricocc. The artist's name is Joseph Riebe and she th ought he 'Mlu ld Slln'Pnt ti ng up
the scu lpture tomorrow. The title is yet unknown .

tbcslC art works to our citizals. She advised that these two pieces of sculpture represent tl,e twd !iucccssful
projects of the CUltunl AIU Commission 's Art in Publ ic Places Program. Agai n. she said. thanks to the
Museum of Outdoor Ans. Rodney Lon tine. ns well as Joseph Riebe.

bas been a high priority for Council and has r=ived a lot of interest from the community. She advised
mat whal she is RJggcsting to COW1cil is that the namin g is p.111 or an overall identity stra 1cgy 1hat needs 10
be carefull y considered for the entire project and it has to do with the logo. the image we project or th e
lbanc. She maintained it is a very imponant step that we should look at in its cn1irc1y. She opined 1hm 11
s;bould definitely include the communlty, but it should also Includ e U1e Council and the developer and
probabl y some professi onals in the fleld that ,.,,..Id help us with thi s. She po inted ou t that thi s is an
important marketing decision, that will have a big impact on the success of th e project and'"' will be li v,ng
with the decis ion for a long time. So . she s.i id. she would suggest that we look at it in Stud y Sessio n in the
ocxt three 10 four weeks.
