WHEREAS, the Engl ewood City Counci l authorized the Co,lcctive Bargaining Contract between the Englewood Firefighters Local No. 1736 and th e City of Englew ood for the years 2005 anJ 2006, by the pa ssage of Resolut ion 78, Series of ~004 : and WHEREAS, the Collective Bargaining Contrac t for Decr.mbcr I, 2005 through December 31, 2006 wi th the Englewood Firefighters Loc al No. 1736 provided fo r wage increas es to be granted if certain co nditi ons were met ; and WHEREAS , Art icle 8, Section D, of the ContrJct provide s fo r a w.ige increase of 2.6 5% based on the sa lary rate in effect in 2005: and WHEREAS, this increase, though not required 10 be implemented until Augu st I, 2006, will be implemented on March I 0, 2006 ; and WHEREAS, thi s increase wi ll be retroactive 10 January I, 2006 : NOW , TliEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNC IL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD , COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS : Section I. f ,e Ci ty Cou ncil of the City of Englewood, Co lorado hereby approves an Ame ndm ent to t11e Collective Bargaining Con tra ct between th e Englewood Firefighters Loca l No . 1736. The City of Englewood will implement, retroacti ve to January I , 2006 , a 2.6 5% increase based on the sa lary rate in effect in 2005 . This in cre ase is in lieu of the on e contractually due 10 be implemented on August I, 2006 . The City an d EFFA agree thnt the implementation of '<his increase by the City and the acceptance of the increas e by EFFA do not consti tute a reope11ing of negotiations for the current Agreement. Section 2. The Mayor and the City Cle rk arc hereby authorized to sign and attest this Amendment to the Co llect ive Bargaining Co ntra ct hetween the Englewood Firefighters Local No. 1736 and the City of Englewood, Colorado , for the period r i January I, 2005 through December 31, 2006 . BACKGl :OUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTE RNAT IVES IDENTIF IED Per th e City's co ll ec ti ve bargai nin g ag re ement fo r 2005<W06 with th e EFFA, wage increase s ,ve re to be grant ed if cer tai n reve nu e projec ti ons wer e ac hi eve d by th e Cit y. After a 1.11 % in crPa se was grant ed on Janu ary 1, ~005, they had two more op por tuniti es to rece ive wage increases if reve nu e p rojecti o ns were m et (0 11 July I , 2005 and October I , 2005). The City's reve nu es di d 11 0 1 m ee t pro jec ti ons on ei th er of th ose dates, so iio furth er in creases we re grant ed to EFF A memb ers . In 200 6, th e co ntra ct prov id ed two addition al opp ortu ni ti es for w.:,ge in creases, ag ain onl y it th e City's revenu es mee t pro j ec ti o ns . Th e first o p por1u11it y w as o n Janu ary 1, 20 06. The y w er e no t grant ed an in crease on that date be ca us e th e re ve nu e targ ets we re not ac hi ev ed . Th e remainin g o pportunity will occur o n July 1, 2006. On Augusl 1, 2006 the contrac t provid es fo r th e un ion memb ers 10 move v. of th e way to th eir mark et point , as agreed up on after a sa lary surv ey conduc ted in 2005, w ith o ut regard to th e C ity's reve nues. FINANCIAL IMPACT The impact of the amendment will b e app roximately $305 .13 , which is an estimation of the interest income lost by earl y implementati o n of th e sala ry increase.
