WHEREAS, the Ci tt of Englewood is rcqui~ by Cit;-Chancr to ensure that expenditure s do not exceed legally adopted appropriations; and WHF.REAS , this supplemental appropriation to tht 2006 Budget will fund upgrades for the LifePak 12 diagnostic equipment for the Safety Services Department , Fire Divi sion ; NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS : ~-The Budget for the City ofEnglewood, Colorado , is hereby amended for the year ending 2006, as follows: GENERAL FUND: SOURCE OF FUNDS: Unreserved/Undesi8J1atcd Fund Balance USE OF FUNDS: Safety Services Department, Fire Division LifePak 12 Upgrades $14 ,837 $14 ,837 ~ The City Manager and the Director of finance and Administrative Services arc hereby authorized to make the above c;:anges to the 2006 Budget for the City of Englewood. BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED Th e City's LifePak 12 s are an excepti onal diagnos ti c tool that shou ld continu e to serve th e City for another fou r or fi ve years. Fire personnel believe it is necessary to add th e fo ll owing upgrades to provide th e "S tandard of Care" defi ned by D enve r M etro Em erge ncy Medica l Servi ce s providers: • End Tidal Carbon Dio,ide Detector is used to ve rify endntrach eae l tube pla ce m ent end criti ca l diagn osis of acute res piratory and ca rdi ac probl ems . Englewood is th e only agency in th e So uth Denve r Metro Area without this capab ili ty. • Aulomated Blood Pressure Cuff is used to constantl y monito r a pati ent 's blood pressure at the sce ne and en ro ute. This tool is critical in detecting sudden changes in th e pati ent's condition, and it frees up personnel to do oth er tasks . • Built In Pulse O,imeler Monitor would rep lace handheld units . Thi s tool co ntinually monit ors pati ent's oxyge n sa turati on leve ls. Al so, software is avai labl e to downl oa d the Jiagn es ti c information in to th e Fire Manager Medica l Pati ent reports . Currently th e vendor, Medtronic, has a special offe r providing a free upgrade if two others are purchased. Th e total cost of upgrading th e two units is $14,837.
