Ha r aldsen 1nvlted Council to attend the Great Pike 's Peak Cowboy Poet Gathering in August in Colorado Springs . (b) Thomas Burns , Englewood Housing Authority Chairman, presented the Housing Author1ty's annua: payment to the C1ty of Englewood In lieu of taxes in the a110unt of $13,800 and thanked the City for their assistance. He stated he had attended a ceremony In Washington D.C. at which time he received the Individual Recognition Award fn111 the U.S. Dep1rtaent of Housing and Urban DevelopMnt Authority. He was enthusiastic about th11 experience and shared particulars . Mayor Wiggins st1t11d Hr. Bums represents the City well and 1t ts apprec1ated. 8. He responded to questions. The agreement is a one-year agreement and can be cancelled with 30 days notice by either party. The City will pay Arapahoe County an amount not to e><ceed $3,000 a quarter. All services for Englewood residents, from JanuarJ t hra u~h March 1992, have been covered under other federally sponsored programs . 0!,· cusslon ensued. Mr . At this t i 111e construction is complete on the concrete district portion of the project. He noted construction on the 600 foot of roadway on South Platte River Drive has been delayed until late this fall or early spring, as th e State Hi ghway Department 1s in the process of extending a major sanitary tru nk 11 ne in that area . Discus sion ensued regarding structural problems . Mr. Kahm confirmed t he re is a major stonn dr i n that runs down t'he center of the courts and discharg es to the northeast. A few years ago the City rebuilt the catch basin and ran a video camera through that 1 ine. He felt the problem s were addressed at t hat time . General Discussion (a) Mayor's Choice (I) Mayor Wiggins expressed his concern that Public Service has continued digging holes and patching on the northbound lane of South Broadway. City Manager Fraser stated the City has been in contact with Public Se"ice regarding the patching. Public Service is having sc.e probl•s in that area and they are reluctant to apply the final patch until the project 1s 'c011plet- ed. Mayor Wiggins asked that Public Service be required to put an overlay on the whole street. (ii) He noted he had received a letter from the Mayor of the Town of Vall encouraging Council to adopt a resolution opposing the state -wide inl· tlative to raise the Colorado sales tax. Di scussion ensued. (b) Counc,l Member's Choice (i ) Council Member Habenicht corrected and apologized for her pre- vious statement regarding mlsinfonnation she had received . She stated, lat - egorically, that Council Member Bullock had reimbursed the City i n full for costs associated with his Colorado Municipal League board campaign. (ii) Council Member Hathaway: 1. The neighbor has a pennit to remove a fence which will lncreas, · 'linage onto her property. She asked staff to follow-up on Ms . Parker's comp,Jtnt. (iv) Council Member Bullock advised he w11l be holding a town meet i ng June 23 , 1992 , 7:00 p.m., at the Malley Center . He wil l be jo ined by Se nator Blickensderfer and State Representat i ve Henning and the meet i ng will have an open agenda . D&puty City Ma na ger Martin will be preparing 15-20 signs anno unc ing the meeting, the cost of which will be taken from Mr. Bullock 's di scretionary funds. He inv i ted everyone to attend. 13. City Manager's Report (a) Mr . Fraser displayed the new City t•shirt. The logo wa s designed by Utilities Adminis trativ e Aide Peggy Mitten. He invi t ed them to attend the tee-cream social Friday, June 26 , 1992 at 3 :00 p.m . (c) He noted on Saturday, June 13, 1992, the city conducted a success-I ful paint recycling day with over 70 households participating. The City col- lected 250 gallons of unusable latex, 200 gallons of usable latex, 200 gallons of oil -based pa i nt, 30 gallons of gasoline, 25 gallons of used motor oil, and 25 gallons of anti -freeze. He stated the City will conduct three more paint recycling days th i s year . 14. City Attorney's Report (a) City Attorney DeW1tt presented a recommendation to approve a bill for an ordinance authorizing the purchase of real property located at 2705 South Delaware Street.
