B9ferring to the matter of the proposed extegaion of the street
known as Sh~nidan Avenue, west fr<a Broad·.vay, wiLl say that I have
•d• u examination of the ·lUes t ion anci fiad that J. C. Jones
appears to be the owner of t he s.1i2 of S.W.l/4 of Sec. 34, Tp.
4 B.R. 68 1'., and Thome.a E. Skerritt app are to be the owner of
that portion of the N.E.1/4 of H.E.l/4 of N.W.1/4 of Sec. 3,
Tp. 6, R. 68 W., ao that one-half of the proposed exten.sioa of
this street on the section line i• owned by Mr. Bkerritt on the
eouth and Mr. Jones on the north. There is nothing of record
ebowing any rights or privileges for any public road upon that part
of the land.
I have furt her examin ed the County Road r«: ords in th e County
Clerk'• office in tho City of Denver, fomerly Arapahoe County,
Which included this particular road, and find that in the month
of Karch, 1873 1 County Road No. 17 was laid out, w i ch is platted
and ahow tu road running from South Broadny eaet on "irhat is
kno -.vn u Sh eridan AYonue. When it strikes what is known now
u South Broadny (at that time South Broad.way was not platted),
it detours to th ~ southwest acroaa Little Dry Creek, and then it
llakea a turn to the aorth•est until it etrik•• the section line
eoae 300 or 400 fedt froa Sou t h Browlway. !he road was petitioned
for by Mr. Bkerritt and othdr&, and one Joseph F. Bennet t and one
Jolall lloBroc:a nre ap!)ointecl Yiewere. !bey took the catter up
and reported that 1D th"1r opinion the road ebould not follow the
eectioa line, but ehould ate the detour, for t ha purpose of so.Yin&
