Crow C O U N C I L C O M M U N I C A T I O N DATE AGENDA ITEM SUBJECT March 15, 1988 Malley Center Trust Fund Trustees Parks and Recreation Department INITIATED BY ------------------------ Appointment of council member or a citizen to serve as ACT I ON PROPOSED ______________________ _ Trustee of the Malley Center Trust Fund BACKGROUND Ordinance No. 28, Series of 1981, established the "Malley Center Trust Fund" for the benefit of the Englewood Senior Citizens Recreational Center adding a new subsection to Title 4, Chapter 3, Section 9 of the '85 Englewood Municipal Code. Trustees are appointed as follows: 1. One trustee to be appointed from the City Council who_ shall serve during tenure in office. 2. One trustee to be appointed by City Council from the membership of the Englewood Parks and Recreation Commission who shall serve during tenure in office. 3. Three trustees to be appointed by City Council upon recommendation of Parks and Recreation Commission, which three trustees shall have the fo1·1owing minimum qualifications: a. be ·a resident of the City of Englewood; b. be over the age of 55; c. be active in the affairs of the Elsie Malley Centennial Center. Terms of appointment for first trustees shall be for one, two and three years. Council shall designate which appointee is appointed for one-year, two-year, or three-year term. Thereafter, trustees appointed by Council shall be appointed. for three-year terms. The attached bill for an ordinance amends the 1985 Englewood Municipal Code to allow City Council to appoint a council member or a citizen to represent the City Council as a trustee of the Malley Center Trust Fund. RECOMMENDATION That City Council approve Council Bill No. 15 amending the Englewood Municipal Code.
