BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED A ppli ca ti ons ior Federal Trans p ortati on Fu nds are so li c it ed by th e Den ve r Regio n al Co un ci l of Gove rnm ents (DRC OG) every two yea rs . Thi s application requests funding fo r years 2007-20 12. Proj ec ts mus t 1111pl e111 en' .11 e impr ove ment s con tai ned in th e 2020 Regio nal Transport atio n Plan and mee t th e specific el• ,.bilily requirements for th e fundin g ca tegory req uested. Pr ojects req uire a minimum of 20% in loca l ma tchin g funds . DR COG , in coo peration wi th th e Colorado D epa rtm ent oi Tr ansportati o n (CDOT), is charged wi th preparati on ~r th e Transpor tati o n Im provem ent Pr og ram (TIP ). TIP pri o riti zes regio nal projec ts fo r Fed eral ', "po r1a1i on Funds ava il able through the "Safe Accoun tabl e Flexi ble Efficient Tr anspon a11o n Equit y Ac 1-Le11 acy for Users " (SA FTEA-LU). Co ngress ado p ted thi s progra m in Augu st. 20U5 to replace th e :o rmer Tran sp ort ation Efficie ncy Ac t of th e 2 1" Century (TE A-2 1 ). Th ese thr ee proj ects w ere applied for in the previo us TIP cycle for 200 5-2 010, but we re sco red be low th e cu t-o ff fo r fu ndin g. DR COG req uires a r~-subm illal fo , th e projec ts to reaffi rm our local • m atching iunds . DRC •)G and CDOT hav e state d th at th ey ar e com mitt ed to fu nd in g th e South Broadwa y • Stre etscape Pr oject. We ar e includ ing this pr ojec t in ou r appli cati on to ins ur e it is no t dr opped. The Bike/Ped estrian Bridge at Da rt mo uth sco red jus t below th e fundin g le vel in th e previous TIP Cycle an d is on the approv ed wai ting list. We are hopeful that this project will move forward and be included in th e 200 7-2012 TIP . Englewood has recei ved approxim ately S 1,400,000 in Fede ral Funds through ISTE A since 20 03 ior three sidewa lk projec ts, one bike tra il, and one traffic signal project. Matching fu nds fo r th e Br idge at th e Golf Course could be availab le in th e Open Spa ce Fund .
