Ef1_ SERIES OF 2005 CONTRACT NO. ! 17 -·< oo S- A RESOLUT ION AUTHOR IZING THE EXTENSION OF TRANSIT SHUTTLE SERVICES OPERAT IONS CON TRA CT BETWEEN LAIDLAW TRANSIT SERVI CES, INC . AND THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD FOR THE OPERATION OF THE ENGLEWOOD CIR CU LATOR SHUTTLE FOR 2006 . WHEREAS , the Eng lewood City Counc il approved an Intergovernmental Agreement between th e Cit y and th e Reg ional Transportation District for funding of the Eng lewood Circu lator Sh uttl e for 2004-2007 by the passage of Ordinance No. 50, Series of2004; and WHEREAS , the passage of this proposed Reso luti on approves th e extension of the Tran si t Shuttl e Services Operations Contract and will provide for all vehicles and opera ti onal compone nts of the projec t; and WHEREAS , th e Extension rep rese nts a slight increase due 10 the higher labor and commodity costs ; and WHEREAS, the source of fund s for this Contract comes from a gra nt from the federal government th rougi, th e Co nges ti on Mitigation and Ai r Quality Impro veme nt (CMAQ) program whic h is jointly administered by the Federa l Hi ghw ay Administration (FHWA) and th e Federal Transit Administration (FTA ) whi ch funds project s to red uce ai r pollutant s from trunsportation- rclated sources; NOW , THEREcORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIT Y OF ENGLEWOO D, COLORADO, THAT : Sect ion I. The Extensio n of Transi t Shuttl e Services Operations Contra.::t between Laidlaw Tran sit Servi ces, Inc and th e City of Englewood, pertaining to the Englewood Circu lato r Shutt le fo r 2006, attached hereto as Exhibit A, is hereby accepted and approved by the Englewood Cit y Co uncil. WHEREAS , Ordinance No. 50 , Series of 2004, provided for funding for a shuttle se rvice within the downtown area of th e City of Englewood, Colorado; WHEREAS, the purpose of the project was to implement v~,ious transportation services and improvements to reduce dependence on the single occupant automobile, facilitate movement of traffic to and within the commercial areas of the City of Englewood and to minimize traffic congestion in 1he shuttle area; WHEREAS , the Contract for transit shuttle services operations from September 2004 to September 2005 was granted to Laidlaw Transit Services , Inc.; WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 50, Series of2004 and the original Contract dated August 2, 2004 provides for an extension for the Contract for two consecutive one year periods subject to the same terms Jnd conditions; WHEREAS , in the original Contra ·ct the costs of the shuttle operations for 2004 -2005 was $207,53~; WHEREAS, the parties wish t(I extend this Contract for the period of September 2005 -2006; however, due to increased operating expenses the compensation due to Laidlaw for 2005-2006 year period will be $213 ,772; NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants and stipulations provided in the original Contract and hereinafter, the parties agree to extend the Tran sit Shuttle Services Operations Contract of August 2, 2004 for the 2005-2006 period ending on September 6, 2006. -1.
