AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8 , CHAPTER 2E, SECTION 2,
OF THE ENGLEWOOD MUNICIPAL CODE 1985.
WHEREAS , the Uniform Fire Code, 1994 Edition was adopted by the passage of
Ordinance No. 64, Series of 1994, by the Englewood City Council; and
WHEREAS , Ordinance No . 64, Series of 1994, contains some typographical errors
in the numbering of those items requiring a permit; and
WHEREAS, the typographical errors create confusion regarding the requirement for
a permit; and
WHEREAS, this Ordinance will clarify that a permit issued by the Fire Marshal is
required for any activities involving fireworks; and
WHEREAS , Safety Services predicts that there may be a large number of fireworks
in conjunction with the 2000 New Years' celebrations;
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO , AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Englewood , Colorado hereby amends Title
8, Chapter 2E, Section 2 B , of the Englewood Municipal Code, 1985, which shall read
as follows:
8-2E-2: SPECIFIC MODIFICATIONS TO ADOPTED CODE: The following
specific changes , modifications and amendments are hereby made in the provisions of
the Uniform Fire Code, 1994 Edition, herein above adopted:

Delete Section 103.1.4.
Section 105.8 , Permit required. Delete all items except the following:

Section 2. An emergency is hereby declared requiring passage of this Ordinance by
reason of the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of public
property, health, peace and safety, it is hereby declared that an emergency exists and
that this Ordinance shall become effective upon its final passage.
Introduced, read in full , and passed on first reading as an emergency ordinance on
the 15th day of November, 1999.
Published as an Emergency Bill for an Ordinance on the 19th day of November,
1999.
Read by title and passed on final reading on the 6th day of December, 1999.
Published by title as Ordinance No.1.l, Series of 1999, on the 10th day of
December, 1999.

RECOMMENDED ACTION
An emerqencv ordinance amending Title 8, Chapter 2E , Section 2, of the Englewood Municipal
Code f985. Tn1s 1s an emergency for the preservation of public property , health , peace and safety .
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED
This is a correction of typographical errors in the adoption of Section 105 .8 , Permit required , in the
1994 Uniform Fire Code. This correction is of the section numbers only , written titles remain the
same .
It is deemed necessary to clarify the section numbers due to the anticipated fireworks in celebration
of the millennium . Permits are required for the display of fireworks in order to provide for
preservation of public property , health, peace and safety .
