Susan Bila , Council Member Silo 's da ugh ter , was one of the athletes prese n ted with a n award. Mayo r Otis not e d that Ms . Bilo was a nomin ee for the Ruby Mi ller award , a membe r of the Nation al Ho nor Soc i ety , nd a member of the student c oun c il. Ma yor Oti s not ed that Englewood High School was sendi ng t he l argest track team t o State ~,mpetit i on with th e first male athl e i c to return to State in 10 years . Also, Englew,od Hi~h was the first b aseba ll team to r turn to State back-to-ba c k in 20 years . Mr s . Thurs i a Pfe i fer , 660 5 West 13th /\v e nue , La kewo od , r epresenti ng the Engl ewood J aycees , was prese n t . Mr s . Pf eifer request e d p erm i ssio n to charge an admission f ee of $1 .0 0 f o r adults a nd no fee fo r children 12 years and under a l the 4 t h of Ju ly fi r e wor ks cele br atio n. Wh en asked what wer e th e ant i c i pated ~x pe nse s an d co lle ct i. ens for this yea r's display , Mrs . Pfeifer a n s wered SG ,50 0 and $4 ,000 respectively . Mr . Ri ch rutro came forward a nd e xpl ained when the collec t ions r ece iv e d by volunte e rs walk i ng th rough th e c rowd and as king f o r donations were l ess than $2 ,400 , the Jaycees dec id ed to see if Cou ncil wo ul d a llow them Lo c h ar 1e an admission fee . Mayn:: Otis wa s in favor o( an adm i ssion fee and suggested po s ling s igns th al an a dmission fee w~s required for entrance . Chief Holmes ag reed . May o r Pr o Tern Bradshaw offered the help of City staff to have the signs mad e up . Ms. Bradshaw also ask ed Mr. Ayers of the Englewood Sentinel to publish the approp ri ate notice .
