the amendments . He c o uld not afford this expense.

stated h e was the atto r n~y repr esenting inde pendent a uto de a le r s . Mr.
Co me r opposed the am e ndme n ts a nd a r gu e d tha t maki ng th e lot s a co ndi-
t ion a l u se was d e n i al of e qu a l rights un de r th e law a nd confiscat ion of
pro per ty .
Bruce Cai rns, bu s iness addr es s 4732 Sou t h Br oa dw ay , came for-
wa rd . Mr. Cairns op posed the am e nd ments and presen ted h is cur s o ry st ud y
on what the e n v ironmental imp act would be .

stated h e would lose his business if he had to t ur n h i s front line d is-I

t he amendmen son the bas i s o f the e xp e ns e of l a ndsc a ping and that it d id

o rdere d by th e Ci y t o c omply with th e l a nd scaping ordinance.

Jim Bahn e , h ome address 6649 So u t h Helena Street/business ad-
dress of 4550 Soulh Broad way (Valley Mo tors), came forward. Mr. 6ahn e
compared the City 's l ,.yo to his perception of th e subjec t sit u at ion and
inferred that th e protestant petition wa s a n unders ta ~ding of the im-
p er fe ct "E" (the City's logo).
Larry Corwin, cam e forward aga in a nd furth e r pro tes ted on th e
b asis of discrimination .
Lloyd Chavez , came forward aga~n and o f fered further comments
opposi ng the am e ndm e nts.
To ,n Garlic , -4808 fouth Broadway , c ame fo rward . Mr. Garlic pro-
tested on the b a sis th at he would hav e 1 r oblems with if required to make
a driv e way cut . Mr. Garli c asked Council to work on enforcing curr e nt
codes , not issue ne w ones .
Jo n Cook, who spok e ear lier , came forw a rd and prot ested that the
a ~e ndm e nts would redu ce his cap abi li ty to ma ke a li v ing .

ord in a nce would lim it the n um b e r of c ars o n a lot and he r esented the
City taking away th i s proper ty .
