Dorothy Romans, appea r ed befo re Co un cil and reviewed the proposed
r equi rement s . Ms. Romans stat ed the regulation s would not a p ply to
persons constructing or reh abi litating single-family homes i n the
R-1 -A, R-1-B, or R-1-C , Single-Family Residence Districts but would
apply to c on struct ion of churches, schools, or public b u ildi ngs in
these districts . Ms . Romans stated th e regulations wo uld apply to
al l new d eve lopment and t o buildings under-g o ing major r emodeling
in the med ium and h i gh-dens ity re si d e ntial dist r ict s , residential /
professio nal dist r ict, and commercial and industrial districts .
Ms . Romans stated if the d eve loper cannot provide an area for land-
scaping it ls recomme nd ed that the deve l o pe r provide 1% of the
value of the constructi on to a fund f or land scap in g or art work in
publi c areas of ne a r proximity. Ms . Romans stated the regulations
wo uld provide for a pen alty if th e landscaping was not maint ained .
Th e regulations would provide for a planting g u i d e. The r e gula -
tions would require landscaping plan s be submitted at the time of
the app lic ati o n f or a buildi ng permit .

City Manager Mccow n stated variou s tours of public works
projects would be conducted during "Publ ic Wo rks We ek" and the
days would be May 23 -the ground breaking ceremony at the d ete n-
tion po nd; May 24 -tour of the water pla nt; May 25 -tour of the
serv ice nter; May 26 -tour of the wastewater treatment plant.
Council Member Higday recognized a visito r who arrived
l ate and wanted to address the City Council .

Ci ty Council to pa r ticipate in a men 's beautif ul legs contest dur-
ing the fair whi c h is the last we ek in July . Ms. Kolla th s tated

County to enter into the contest.
