CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO
Mq 9, 1977
The City Council of the City of Englewood, Arapahoe County, Colorado,
met in special session on May 9, 1977 at 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Protem Clqton, presiding, cal.led the meeting to order.
The invocation was given by City Manager Mccown. The Pledge of
Allegiance was led by Councilman Sovern.
Mayor Protem Clqton asked for roll call. Upon the call of the roll,
the following were present:
Council Members Williams, Sovern, Smith, Brown, Mann, Clayton.
Absent: Mayor Taylor.
The Mayor Protem declared a quorum present.
Also present were: City Manager Mccown
Administrative Assistant Brown
City Attorney Berardini
Director of Community Development Wanush
Deputy City Clerk Johannisson

Mayor Protem Clqton recognized Director of Conmunity Development
Wanush. He requested William J. Caskins, Jr., attorney for the applicant, to
appear.
William J. Caskins, Jr. appeared and indicated he had been in
contact with John Criswell, attorney for the residents of Kent Village,
in an attempt to reach a mutual agreement between the applicant and the
residents regarding the Hampden Professional. Park Subdivision final plat.
He stated that a representative from Larwin could be in Englewood within a
week to discuss :f'urther development of this site. Mr. Caskins requested
that the public hearing be postponed tor a month in order for negotiations
between all parties to be completed.

the motion. Upon a call ot the roll, the vote resulted as follows:
AYea: Council Members Williama, Sovern, Smith, Brown, Mann, Clqton.
Nays: None.
Absent: Mayor Taylor.

The Mayor Protem declared the motion carried.
COUNCILMAN WILLIAM3 K>VED 'ro INCWDE AS PART OF THE PUBLIC HEARING
THE PREVIOUS REQUEST OF WILLIAM J. CASKIBS, JR. FOR POSTPONEMENT OF THE PUBLIC
HEARING. Councilman Sovern seconded the motion. Upon a call of the roll, the
vote resulted as follows:
Ayes: Council Members Williams, Sovern, Smith, Brown, Mann, Clayton.
Nays: None.
Absent: Mayor Taylor.
The Mayor Protem declared the motion carried.
John Criswell, attorney for the residents of Kent Village, appeared
and stated hie clients are willing to postpone the public hearing if Larwin
is willing to send a representative with authority to discuss development of
this site. He also indicated that he or his clients have at no time received
any assurances from Mr. Caskins or Larwin.
Mayor Protem Clayton asked if there was 8JJ1'0ne in the audience that
wished to comment on the request for postponement of the public hearing.
Richard Edsall, 3295 South Franklin, appeared and stated he does
not want to get into the same situation as the public hearing on the initial
development of this site where the Planning and Zoning Canmission reversed
a decision without adequate notification to the citizens. Mr. Edsall indicated
he is not opposed to the postponement with the provision that a similar situa-
tion does not arise.
Councilman Smith asked Mr. Caskine when the meeting would take place
with the Larwin representative. Mr. Casldns replied that the representative
could be here Wednesday if immediately notified.
Councilman Smith asked Mr. Criswell if his clients desired to
negotiate with the Larwin representative and the applicant. Mr. Criswell
stated they definitely wish to negotiate with these people as it would be
to their distinct advantage.

7:00 P.M. IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS. Councilman Sovern seconded the
motion. Upon a call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows:
Ayes: Council Members Williams, Sovern, Smith, Brown, Mann, Clayton.
Nays: None.
Absent: Mayor Taylor.
The Mayor Protem declared the motion carried.

COUNCILMAI SOVERB MJVED 'ro ADJOURB THE PUBLIC HEARING UNTIL JUNE 13,
1977 AT 7:00 P.M. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. Upon a call of the
roll, the vote resulted as tollovs:
Ayes: Council Members Williams, Sovern, Smith, Brown, Mann, Clayton.
Nays: None.
Absent: Mayor Ta¥lor.
The Mayor Protem declared the motion carried.
It was noted that the public hearing is not closed but is just
postponed.

There being no further business, Mayor Protem Clayton adjourned the
City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.
