Mr. Kells Waggaler, Director of Public Works, came before Council an recomnend- ded award of contracts to the l~t bidders upai the condition that they get the concurrence o f HUD. None .• The Mayor declared the DDtial carried. * * * * * Mr. Stan M:>rris. 3005 West Cllenango, appeared before Council, along with other ccoocemed citizens in the Centennial Acres area, concerning a recent accident at the comer of Federal and Tufts. Mr. M:>rris stated that part of the reasal for the accident is that there is no adequate provisial for pedestrian safety. He came before Council seeking information and help to provide help for pedestrian safety. He stated that the snow plows plow the snow into the gutter or pathway along Federal, which left no place for the pedestrians to walk. Re al.so stated there was very little traffic control in that area. I I I I I I I I -2- Mr. Gifford Lininger, 3287 W. Pimlico, also appeared before Council. He stated that they had the State Highway Department to plow the snow to the middle of the street rather that to the gutter. He stated that trying to cross Federal to go to the park was very danger- ous. City Manager Dial stated that the cost of any signal installatioos oo State highways oust be borne by the City of F.nglewood and they could not be installed without sanc- tiat fran the State Highway Department. Coln::ilman SclMab stated that there were no restrictioos from haneowners getting peimits to put in sidewalks at this time, and this Spring the City of Englewood sidewalk dis- trict wuld be started and they could petition to include any runber of sidewalks. He stated that there is a 5-year progran. He also stated that the City has not in the past put in terrp- orary black top or gravel. C.OWCilwoman Henning stated that the City should furnish maps, school district bolmdaries, land use, and right of way and paths children take to help this group determine what should be done. Mayor Senti assured the group the City wuld do everything possible to help in this situation. * * * * * Schcdlle for coopletion of Paving District No. 21 was received for the record. * * * * * The minutes for the Board of Adjustment and Appeals meeting of October 11, 1972 were received for the record. Councilman Brawn requested that the minutes be corrected to show the date when the ~ting was held. * * * * * The mi.rultes of the Board of Adjustment and Appeals special meeting of October 18, 1972 were received for the record.
