The following "Notice of Call " was read by the Deputy City Clerk. NOTI CE OF CALL BY THE MAYOR FOR A SPEC IAL SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ~N DAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 1 971 8:00 P.M. The City Council of the City of Englewood, Arapahoe County, Colorado, is hereby called to a special meeting at the City Hall , 3400 South Elati Street, to consider the following agenda: (1) Public he ar ing to c o n s i der the 1972 Proposed Budget submitted by the City Manager . Brown /s/ D. J. Dhority /s/ Elmer E. Schwab /s/ John J. Lay /s/ Milton E. Senti /s/ John c. Kreiling Mayor Schwab , presiding , called the meeting to order and asked for roll call. Upon the call of the roll, the follo wing were present: Councilmen Senti , Lentsch , Lay, Kre i ling, Dhor i ty, Brown, Schwab. Absent: None The Mayor declared a quo rum present . Also present were: Assistant City Manager McDivitt C i ty Attorney Berardini Deputy City Clerk Herndon * * * * * Mayor Schwab explained that t h e p urpose of the meeting was to hold a public hearing on the proposed 1972 Budget. COUNCIU4AN LENTSCH MOVED, COUNCI U4AN DHORITY SECONDED, THAT THE PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED 1972 BUDGET BE OPENED. Upon t h e call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Senti, Lentsch , Lay, Dreil i ng, Dhor i ty, Brown, Schwab. Nays: None Absent: None The Mayor declared the public hearing open e d at 8:05 P.M. ?«Yl'E: A tape recording of t h e publ i c heari ng i s on file with the official records of the City Clerk of the Se ptember 27, 1971, City Council special meeting. Assistant City Manager McDivitt came befor e Council to discuss the 1972 proposed budget. Mr. McDivitt stated that there were no t a x i ncreases for the 1972 budget. He stated that the assessed valuation is $74,000,000, and that the mil l l e vy f or the Ci ty of Englewood is the third lowest of any c i ty in the State of Colorado . Assistant Ci ty Manager McD i v i tt discussed with Council the various sources of income, and stated that the ma jor source of income is the sales tax. Councilman Kreiling questioned the i ncrease in personal services. Mr. McDivitt discussed br i efly the proposed training of City employe es to ass i st the Fire Department. He stated that the volunteer firemen were unable to serve du r ing the day due to their employment. It was felt that the C i ty would have better control o~er the cro ss -train e d p e r s onn el. Mayor Schwab stated that the City would receive credit for one full time fi r e man f or every four cross-trained personnel. Mr. McDivitt stated that 3 per c e nt to 6 per cent of the increase in cormnodities and con- tractual services was attributed to inf l a t i o n . Discussion ensued . Upon the cal l of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: Ayes : Councilmen Senti , Le ntsch, Lay, Kreiling, Dhority, Brown, Schwab. Nays: None Absent: None The Mayor declared the public hearing closed at 8:50 P.M. * * * * * The City Council discussed briefly t he t r e e limb pick-up position previously taken by Council. It was the consensus of Counc i l that the Ci ty pick up the broken tree limbs.
