The following Notice of Call was read by the City Clerk: September 1, 1965 NOTICE OF CALL BY 'l'HE MAYOR FOR SPECIAL SESSION OP 'l'HE CI'l'r CaJHCIL WBDHESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 1965 -5:15 P.M. for the purpoae of diacuaaing contract for the Weat Dartmouth Avenue and South Platte River bridge, and the poaaibility of amending same. ac>TICB ARD CALL is hereby given of a special aeaaion of the City Council to be held on Wedne8day, September 1, 1965, at 5:15 P.M., for the purpose of discussing the con- tract for the West Dartmouth Avenue and South Platte River bridge, and the possibil- ity of amending same. /s/ CLAUDE D. MALOHE, Jr. Acting City Manager ACKHOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT OP NOTICE The following persons, all Councilmen of the City of Englewood, Colorado, do hereby acknowledge the receipt of notice of the above apecial session: /s/ Samuel L. Love /s/ Geo. H. Allen /s/ H. R. Braun /s/ D. G. Fullerton /a/ Tymer Rice /a/ John c. Kreiling /s/ Wm. B. Han80n 'ftle Mayor aaked for roll call. Upon the call of the roll, the following per- 80na were preaent: Councilmen: Allen, Braun, Fullerton, Kreiling, Rice, Love. Alao Present: Acting City Manager Malone, Assistant City Attorney Myrick, City Clerk Chase. Absent: councilman Hanson. The Mayor declared a quorum present. Diacuasion waa begun in regard to the contract for the West Dartmouth Avenue and south Platte River bridge, a contract made between the City of Englewood and Robert Dougan Construction Company. It waa explained that the contract had been re-written after the flood of June 16, 1965, becauae of the wash out plus cleanup expenses and de-watering. It waa not known at that time what the condition of the pile cap or piling was. Councilman Hanaon entered at 5:35 P.M. Mr. Waggoner, City Engineer, explained the amounts to quantity and cost in arriving at additional money to be spent was in the neighborhood of $5,000 to $6,500. Mr. Robert Dougan, Contractor and Superintendent Mr. Tom McDowell were preaent to explain how the changes occurred. Also Mr. John Oanes, Consulting Engineer, was present to anawer queationa from the Council. The Councilmen expreaaed their idea that the bridge was needed, but were concerned over additional coat in comparison to the negotiated contract. Councilman Braun was excused at 6:20 P.M. COUNCIIllAH RICB MOVED, COUNCILMAN FULLERTON SECONDED, THAT 'DIE CONTRACTOR BB INSTRUCTED TO PROCEED WITH THE FULL COMPLETION OF 'l'HE BRIDGE, REALIZING THAT TBB PORTION PROI THE PILB CAPS DOWN WILL BE DONE ON A COST PLUS BASIS AND THEN 107 108 Minutes of September 1, 1965 PROCEED WITH THE REST OP THE BRIDGE, KNOWING THAT IT IS GOING TO COST BETWEER $6,000 TO $8,000 IR ADDITION TO THE NEGOTIATED CONTRACT. ALSO, THAT THE ROBERT DOUGAN CORSTRUCTIOR C<llPANY GIVE A LBTTBR OF INTENT AS OP AUGUST 31, 1965 AND BE ACCBPTBD BY' THE CITY. Upon the call of the roll, the vote reaulted as follows: Ayea: Councilmen Fullerton, Hanson, Kreiling, Rice, Love. Nay•: councilman Allen. Abaent: Councilman Braun. The Mayor declared the motion carried. Councilman Allen requested that the Robert Dougan Company qive additional in- formation as to the cost breakdown. COUNCIIMAN RICE MOVED, COUNCIUitAN HANSON SECORDED, THAT THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Allen, Fullerton, Hanson, Kreilinq, Rice, Love. Nays: None. Abaent: Councilman Braun.
