HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-10-23 (Special) Meeting Minutes62 SPECIAL MEETING: COUNCIL CHAMBERS CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO OCTOBER 23, 1967 The City council of the City of Englewood, County of Arapahoe, State of Colorado, met in special session Monday, October 23, 1967 at 8 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Engle- wood, Colorado. The following "Notice of Call" was read by the City Clerk: "OCTOBER 23, 1967 NOTICE OF CALL BY THE MAYOR FOR SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1967 -8:00 P.M. The City Council of the City of Englewood, Arapahoe County, Colorado, is hereby called to a special meeting in the City Hall, 3400 South Elati Street, to consider the rezoning request of New Englewood, Ltd., for change of zone on the southeast corner of South Elati Street and West Floyd Ave- nue, an amendment to the Duncan School/Park agreement with the Englewood School District, and a vacation of a part of South Emerson in the 2800 block. /s/ J. Allen /s/ Ray c. Ludwig /s/ Wm. B. Hanson /s/ Louis Parkinson /s/ John c. Kreiling /s/ D. G. Fullerton" The Mayor asked for roll call. Upon the call of the roll, the following persons were present: Councilman Hanson, Kreiling, Ludwig, Parkinson, Allen. Absent: Councilmen Fullerton, Rice. Also Present: Assistant City Manager Mack Assistant City Attorney Eitel Deputy City Clerk Herndon. The Mayor declared a quorum present. COUNCILMAN LUDWIG MOVED, COUNCILMAN HANSON SECONDED, THAT THE PUBLIC HEARING BE OPENED TO CONSIDER THE REZONING REQUEST OF NEW ENGLEWOOD, LTD. FOR A CHANGE OF ZONING ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF SOUTH ELATI STREET AND WEST FLOYD AVENUE. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Hanson, Kreiling, Ludwig, Allen, Parkinson. Nays: None. Absent: Councilmen Fullerton, Rice. The Mayor declared the Public Hearing opened at 8:05 P.M. I I I I I I I I Minutes of October 23, 1967 (The transcript of the proceedings was taken by Mr. Fred Trachte, Certified Court Reporter, 2238 Elm Street, Denver, Colorado.) Mrs. Dorothy Romans, Planning Director for the City of Engle- wood, stated that the request for rezoning had been properly pub- lished in the Englewood Herald and Enterprise. Mrs. Romans also gave a brief explanation of the zoning request. Mr. George Lynton of Von Frellick Association, 100 Clarkson Street, stated to Council the reason for the rezoning request in part would be to take care of the large number of vehicles that would be coming in from the north to the shopping center. No one appeared against the rezoning. COUNCILMAN LUDWIG MOVED, COUNCILMAN HANSON SECONDED, THAT THE PUBLIC HEARING BE CLOSED. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: Ayes: councilmen Hanson, Kreiling, Ludwig, Allen, Parkinson. Nays: None. Absent: Councilmen Fullerton, Rice. The Mayor declared the public hearing closed. COUNCILMAN PARKINSON K>VED, COUNCILMAN LUDWIG SECONDED, THAT THE REQUEST FOR REZONING BE TABLED. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Hanson, Ludwig, Parkinson. Nays: Councilmen Kreiling, Allen. Absent: Councilmen Fullerton, Rice. The Mayor declared the motion carried. The Council discussed an amendment to the Duncan School/Park Agreement with the Englewood School District and a vacation of a part of South Emerson Street in the 2800 block. Assistant City Attorney Eitel ruled that since the Duncan School/Park Agreement and the vacating of a part of South Emerson Street was not in the original "Notice of Call" the Council could not take any action regarding these items. (Councilman Fullerton entered at 8:35 P.M. and took his seat with Council.) COUNCILMAN LUDWIG MOVED, COUNCILMAN KREILING SECONDED, THAT THE REQUEST FOR REZONING OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF SOUTH ELATI STREET AND WEST FLOYD AVENUE BE REMOVED FROM THE TABLE. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Fullerton, Hanson, Kreiling, Ludwig, Parkinson, Allen. Nays: None. Absent: Councilman Rice. The Mayor declared the motion carried. Introduced as a Bill by Councilman Hanson, BY AUTHORITY ORDINANCE NO. 27, SERIES OF 1967 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 26, SERIES OF 1963, ALSO KNOWN AS CHAPTER 22 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, AND THE ZONING MAP ATTACHED THERETO, TO REZONE CERTAIN PROPERTY MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED THEREIN FROM B-1 (BUSINESS) TO B-2 (BUSINESS). COUNCILMAN HANSON MOVED, COUNCILMAN PARKINSON SECONDED, THAT ORDINANCE NO. 27, SERIES OF 1967, BE PASSED ON SECOND AND FINAL READING AND ORDERED PUBLISHED IN FULL IN THE ENGLEWOOD HERALD AND ENTERPRISE. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: 63 64 Minutes of O~tober 23, 1967 Ayes: Councilmen Hanson, Kreiling, Ludwig, Allen, Parkinson. Nays: Councilman Fullerton. Absent: Councilman Rice. The Mayor declared the motion carried. COUNCILMAN LUDWIG MOVED, COUNCILMAN PARKINSON SECONDED, THAT THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted as follows: Ayes: councilmen Fullerton, Hanson, Kreiling, Ludwig, Parkinson, Allen. Nays: None. Absent: Councilman Rice.
