COUNCIL CHAMBERS
CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO
DECEMBER 11, 1967
SPECIAL MEETING:
The City council of the City of Englewood, County
of Arapahoe, State of Colorado, met in special session on Monday,
December 11, 1967 at 5:30 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, City
Hall , Englewood, Colorado.
The following "Notice of Call" was read by the City Clerk.
"DECEMBER 11, 1967
NOTICE OF CALL BY THE MAYOR
FOR SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
MONDAY, DECEMBER 11, 1967 -5:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Englewood, Arapahoe County,
Colorado, is hereby called to a special meeting in the Council
Chambers, City Hall, 3400 South Elati Street, for the purpose of
considering bids received on the City of Englewood's Traffic
Signal Installation Program and for other matters related to the
over-all Traffic Signal Program.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT OF NOTICE
The following persons, all Councilmen of the City of Englewood,
Colorado, do hereby acknowledge receipt of Notice of the above
special session:

(The Notice of Call was also delivered to Councilman Hanson's
residence on or about December 8, 1967 pursuant to Chapter 4.3
of the M nicipal Code.)
The Mayor asked for roll call. Upon the call of the roll,
the following persons were present:
Councilmen Kreiling, Ludwig, Parkinson, Rice, Allen.
Absent: Councilmen Fullerton,Hanson.
The Mayor declared a quorum present.
Also Present: City Manager Dial,
Assistant City Manager Mack,
Assistant City Attorney Eitel,
City Clerk Lyon.
City Manager Dial reported to the City Council that the
State Highway Department had approved the signalization of the inter-
section of South Cherokee and State Highway 70. Mayor Allen read the
letter received from the Highway Department to the Council.
Mr. Dial presented to Council a bid tabulation sheet of the
bids received on December 11, 1967 for installation of traffic signal
equipment and a memorandum from Mrs. D. A. Romans, Planning and Traffic

Director, concerning the overall costs of the traffic signal
program. Mr. Dial indicated that the low bid received was $23,817, which
is considerably in excess of the estimate of $12,540. Mr. Dial dis-
cussed the bids received and explained that the intersections of
Cherokee and Girard, Highway 70 and South Inca, Fox and West Floyd,
and Elati Street and West Floyd were not included in the $23,817 cost
for installation as these signals were to be a part of the cost borne
by New Englewood.
councilman Fullerton entered the Council Chambers and took
his seat at 5:45 P.M.
Mr. Dial reconunended that the intersections of Bannock and
Dartmouth and Logan and Dartmouth be deleted from the Traffic Signali-
zation Program. He also recanmended that the school signals be diverted
to the main provisions of the signalization program. This, he stated,
would reduce the total cost of the Program of $97,151.47 by $12,428.03
to a total cost to the City of Englewood of $84,723.44, which is within
the $86,500 appropriation. The recommendation was discussed at length
by the City council.
COUNCILMAN KREILING MOVED, COUNCILMAN PARKINSON SECONDED,
THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ACCEPT THE BID OF KENNEDY ELECTRIC AS LOWEST
AND BEST BID AND THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK BE AUTHORIZED TO SIGN
THE CONTRACT: AND, FURTHER, THAT FUNDS BE PROVIDED FOR THE EQUIPMENT
FOR SIGNALIZATION OF THE INTERSECTIONS OF LOGAN AND DARTMOUTH AND
BANNOCK AND DARTMOUTH, INCLUDING THE INSTALLATION THEREOF AND THAT THE
SCHOOL SIGNALIZATION PHASE BE DELETED FROM THE PROGRAM. Upon the call
of the roll, the vote resulted as follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Fullerton, Kreiling, Ludwig, Parkinson,
Rice, Allen.
Nays: None.
Absent: Councilman Hanson.
The Mayor declared the motion carried.
COUNCILMAN FULLERTON MOVED, COUNCILMAN RICE SECONDED, THAT
THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted
as follows:
Ayes: councilmen Fullerton, Kreiling, Ludwig, Parkinson,
Rice, Allen.
Nays: None.
Absent: councilman Hanson.
The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 6:23 P.M.
