CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO
JANUARY 6, 1964
REGULAR MEETING:
The City Council of the City of Englewood, Arapahoe County, Colorado, met in
regular aeasion on Monday, January 6, 1964 in the Council Chambers, Cit· Hall,
Englewood at the hour of 7:30 P.M.
Mayor Brownewell presiding called the meeting to order.
The Mayor asked for roll call. Upon the call of the roll, the following per-
aons were present:
Councilmen: Braun, Kreiling, Love, Miles, Parker, Woods, Brownewell.
Alao Present: City Manager Dial,
Administrative Assistant Malone,
City Attorney Esch,
City Clerk Beausang.
Absent: None •
The Mayor declared a quorum present.
The Mayor announced that the present meeting was being held early so that the
few matters that the outgoing Council should consider may be disposed of in advance
of the swearing in and organization of the new Council at 8:00 P.M.
641-2 CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
COUNCILMAN PARKER MOVED, COUNCILMAN WOODS SECONDED, THAT THE MINUTES OF THE
COUBCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 16, 1963 BE APPROVED AS WRITTEN. Upon the call of the
roll, the vote resulted as follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Braun, Kreiling, Love, Miles, Parker, Woods, Brownewell.
Nays: None.
Absent: None.
The Mayor declared the motion carried.
641-11 QUARTERLY AND ANNUAL DEPAR'IMEN'l' REPORTS
The Mayor and Council revi..-CS. add considered the quarterly and annual reports
of the
Building Department,
Police Department, calla to liquor outlets,
Traffic Department,
Fire Department,
Public Works Department,
Municipal Court.
Councilman Braun auggested that a compilation of the calls to any particular
liquor outlet be accumulated and made available to the Council prior to the consi-
deration of the outlet's renewal license.
COUNCILMAN PARKER MOVED, COUNCILMAN LOVE SECONDED, THAT ALL DEPARTMENTAL
QUARTERLY AND ANNUAL REPORTS BE RECEIVED. Upon the call of the roll, the vote re-
sulted as follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Braun, Kreiling, Love, Miles, Parker, Woods, Brownewell.
Nays: None.
Absent: None •
The Mayor declared the motion carried.
641-10 CONSIDERATION OF BILLS, CLAIMS AND INVOICES FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER
The City Manager reported that this List of Billa, Claims and Invoices as
listed by the City Clerk-Treasurer and approved by hia Office alao includes those
purchase orders outstanding against each of the various department• of the City.
Diacuaaion ensued.
COUNCILMAN LOVE MOVED, COUNCILMAN WOODS SECONDED, THAT THE BILLS, CLAIMS AND
INVOICES FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER AS LISTED BY THE CITY CLERK-TREASURER AND APPROVED
BY THE CITY MANAGER BE ALLOWED AND PAID. Upon the call of the roll, the vote resulted
as follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Braun, Kreiling, Love, Miles, Parker, Woods, Brownewell.
Nays: None.
Absent: None.
The Mayor declared themotion carried.

MAYOR'S AND COUNCILMAN'S CHOICE
Councilman Woode expressed enjoyment of being on the City Council and of the
many rewards received thereby. He thanked especially the City Manager and his
ataff for their cooperation and services during the past years.
Councilman Parker spoke of the honor and privilege beatowed upon him in
aaking him to fill Norman McLellan'a place on the Council.
Councilman Miles spoke of hie pleasure of aerving on the Council as a whole
and with the individual Councilmen present. He noted eapecially that one of the
highlights of recent Council actions was the hiring of City Manager Dial.
The City Manager replied by stating that the Council retiring has been the one
that he has worked with and knows well. He expreaaed his opinion that they did an
excellent job of determining policy and expressed the hope that he had correctly
adminiatrated the policy establiahed by the Council.
Mayor Brownewell read a abort statement to thoae present thanking all of the
citizens of Englewood and those who had expressed their confidence in him and his
ability by voting for him. He spoke of the honor bestowed upon him by electing
him Chairman and their Mayor. He expressed hie appreciation for all the work done
by all the member• of the Boards and Commisaiona of the City and the various citizens
coaaitteee which had been formed in the past and thoae currently working with the
City. He thanked the Miniaterial Alliance for providing apiritual guidance to the
Council and eapecially hi• fellow Councilmen for their aupport.
Councilman Kreiling spoke briefly as a "Johnny come lately" but was very
appreciative of working with the men on the Council who will be retiring from
aervice.
Councilman Braun apoke briefly of each of the Councilmen leavin9 the City
council and expreaaed his appreciation of working with them individually and as
a group.
641-2 APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE CURRENT MEETING
The City Clerk read the minutes of the meeting.
